Hi All, for those that don't know here in the UK the Boss of BSGUK just happens to be a 5,10 girl that happens to look like some one from BSG! .... So when she had her new Anovos red dress arrive from the States and wanted some pics I said I know just the place. Hope you like the pics!
Anybody coming to Comicpalooza Fan Fair Houston this weekend, September 19-20 (Saturday and Sunday only for this Con)? A group of BFC and Raven Battle Group members will be there. Kate Vernon, Aaron Douglas and Kandyse McClure will be there. Let us know so we can say hello.
ATTENTION ALL RAVEN PERSONNEL, FAMILY AND FRIENDS,
I have been meaning to make this announcement but real life got in the way as usual.
I am sure a lot of you know by now that Colonel Keith"Leonidas" Ranson, was relieved off duty as the Raven CAG. But this is so in order for him to assume command of the Gunstar Trireme, as her new Commanding Officer. The Gustar Trireme is the Raven's first gunstar escort and the first gunstar commissioned here at the BFC. The OFFICIAL Change of Command took place by none other than Luciana Carro's table and was officiated by both her and myself. She was such a sweetheart for doing it with me and as such, an honor. I chose her since she was CAG both on the Pegasus and the Galactica so it is just fitting for her to relieved Colonel Keith "Leonidas" Ranson.
I like to promote from within first before I even consider bringing someone from the outside. I like to give people chances for growth. The individual that was recommended to me to take his place, is someone that came to the Raven from the Colonial Defense Forces a few years ago. He ask me if I would give him a chance to be a member and allow him to be an intrical part of the group. And I gave him the chance by appointing him as the Squadron Commander of The Flying Tigers. And he just did that what he promise me he was going to do. The Raven was still at the infancy stage and I just became her new Commanding Officer when I first encountered "Reamer" at the BFC site. I was tasked by the President of the BFC, to turn her around and give her a new life and purpose. The first thing I did was to appoint new competent Command Staff members that will help me run the Raven properly. Then recruiting more members, came easily after that. And here we are, a couple years later, enjoying much success and having fun with each other. :-) But, we had to start somewhere. And that somewhere, was at the bottom and gradually, work our way up. The path to success and smooth sailing, was not an easy one for us. We had our own fair share of bumps along the road. That is why, we are a strong and tight knit family of friends because we are able to come together, when we need it the most. We never leave anyone behind and are always there for each other.
So, it is with great pleasure that I announce, that the new Raven CAG is none other than Major Roger "Reamer"Barstow. May the Lords of Kobol guide you to success,as you take on this new responsibility and position.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

our review of all things Galacticon: http://www.battlestargalacticamuseum.com/2015/08/17/galacticon-a-look-inside-the-promise-of-a-battlestar-galactica-reunion-and-making-lemonade/
I had posted this on the FB page for Galacticon, but wanted to repost it here...and add a few additional thoughts.
My girilfriend and I attended this Con on Saturday. In large part because I had seen a promo at an EMP event. I brought it home with me and when we had our next date, I said, hey would you be willing to go to this? To my surprise, she was game - and just not in the humoring the BF mode. She recognized some of the actors, a thing I have never been good at. For me, my goal was to get two signatures from Star Trek Axanar actors that were listed. I bought our tickets and made arrangements, we sandwhiched the Con between a host of other things as a trip to Seattle is such that it's worth packing the time there.
For both of us, this was our first fandom convention, and for her the first Con of any type...and WE HAD A FLIPPING BLAST.
Yep, we went on line a few days before the convention....saw the drama, saw the changes, saw the cancellations and we still had a great time. Yes, one of the actresses who I had hoped to get a signature from cancelled, but I will hopefully catch her at some other event.
We arrived, got our wrist bands and then explored. We had promised to help with the Axanar booth, but were able to see the panels we wanted to see, meet folks, see the exhibits and have a great time. I added signatures to the Axanar tee, listened to discussions on new SciFi shows, saw some amazing props including an ambulance, and enjoyed the Con. My girlfriend got to meet cast members from Land of the Lost, and really had a great time with getting autographs for family members, visiting the booths, and enjoying her first Con of any type.
The exhibitors were amazing. Some wonderful things are now on my Christmas list for my kids and yes myself. The sudden changes in leadership did cause some level of confusion at times with the Con's staff and volunteers...but, most helped out with questions and inquries. From a participant's view, it seemed to be well organized, with a few quirks, and deep in offerings to those that attended. OH, and did I mention We HAD A GOOD TIME!
Outside, I got a fist bumb from Richard Hatch when I shared the fact that I kept encouraging my son to remember the advice Richard had given in Tacoma versus that which Dirk had shared. I had the chance to share the original BSG movie with my then 12 year old son, much in the same way I got to see it with my dad albeit a year or two younger. That was really cool, by the way. But, to see a giant grin on Richard's face, followed by a "thank you" fist bumb...yea that was pretty awesome.
Equally enjoyable was the singing Klingons - JG and Robert were hilarious at the Axanar booth...Got to meet Alec and Diana, but more than that, got to talk with them,, promote Axanar while they did their panel. My girlfriend even enjoyed meeting and talking with them - adding to our collective time.
I had hoped to get Kate's signature on the Axanar teeshirt, but as things happened I got Jewel Staite's signature and talked with her briefly - very nice lady. Can say the same of Claudia Christian, loved her in Babylon 5, and she is a favorite of my girlfriend's father...was really impressed in how she is helping others. Remarkable lady. In the end, I did get Kate's signature, but not on the teeshirt...but from a raffle winning.
I also got to meet some really cool folks - twins from Europe, a great group from Australia, Richard from Raliegh, who joined us on the grass that evening to watch the showing of Selma.
I realize that this Con was to be this major, national event. I would hope that sometype of annual PNW Sci-Fi con could come out of this - I realize that there are a couple of great comic conventions - Jet City being a great favorite - but one focused on the growing sci-fi offerings would be an annual "return" event - I would even help with the organizers!
Thank you everyone who carried on, made the convention happen. Truly unsung, or not sung loudly enough, heroes!

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, THE CULT HIT SERIES, TO AIR ON NBC UNIVERSO IN SPANISH FOR THE FIRST TIME ON U.S. TELEVISION
Starring Academy Award-Nominated Actor Edward James Olmos, the Universal Cable Productions and Syfy Series Debuts in Spanish on Wed., July 29 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
MIAMI – July 28, 2015 – NBC UNIVERSO, the modern sports and entertainment cable channel for Latinos, today announced the launch of Battlestar Galactica, the cult classic which remains one of the highest-rated series ever on Syfy. From Universal Cable Productions, Battlestar Galactica is now slated to appeal to a whole new audience when it airs for the first time in Spanish on U.S. television beginning Wed., July 29, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Battlestar Galactica is the latest hit series NBC UNIVERSO has introduced in primetime as the channel recently launched Law & Order: LA and Suits in Spanish on Tuesday nights. Already a legendary franchise in English and with a global fan base, Battlestar Galactica, transports viewers into a world where human civilization has extended to a group of planets known as the Twelve Colonies and has engaged in a lengthy war against a cybernetic race known as the Cylons, whose goal is the extermination of the human race. After the Cylons carry out a massive attack on the Twelve Colonies and on the Colonial Fleet of “starships” that protect them, scattered survivors flee into outer space aboard a ragtag array of available spaceships. Only the “Battlestar Galactica,” a gigantic battleship and spacecraft carrier, survives the Cylon attack.
Under the leadership of Commander Adama (played by Academy Award nominee Edward James Olmos), the “Galactica” and a team of "Viper Fighters" lead a fleet of survivors in search of the fabled thirteenth colony known as Earth.
“Battlestar Galactica defined a special era for me as an actor and I am very proud to have been part of such an iconic franchise -- It’s thrilling to know that this work carries on and will now be enjoyed by legions of new Spanish-speaking fans,” said Edward James Olmos. “The show also delved into issues of mixed races and gender equality which I think new fans will find to be quite relevant today.”NBC UNIVERSO viewers can watch the series every week on Wednesdays from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT. The series also stars Grace Park as Battlestar Galactica pilot Number Eight, Mary McDonnell as President Laura Roslin and Jaime Bamber as Captain Lee "Apollo" Adama.
"Sci-fi is an extremely popular genre among Hispanics and NBC UNIVERSO is thrilled to build on its sci-fi offerings which currently include Warehouse 13 and Eureka,” said Bilai Joa Silar, Senior Vice President, Programming & Production, NBC UNIVERSO. “We are looking forward to introducing Battlestar Galactica to Spanish-speaking audiences in the U.S. and creating a new ‘Colony’ of “Galacticans.”
Subscribers of NBC UNIVERSO on participating cable, satellite, and telco services also will be able to view episodes of Battlestar Galactica in Spanish on Video on Demand, as well as onnbcuniverso.com and the NBC UNIVERSO NOW app by entering the subscriber’s log-in information. Battlestar Galactica is from Universal Cable Productions and originally aired on Syfy from 2004-2009. It was one of the channel’s highest rated series and out-performed UPN’s Star Trek series.

Steve Tweed, the current Raven Executive Officer of Battlestar Raven, has been filling in the position of OPS Officer which he originally vacated when he got selected to become Executive Officer. But now, it is time to select the best candidate out there to fill in the position. The OPS Officer job description is as follows:
OPERATIONS:
Chief of Operations:
1. Second Officer and third in Command
2. Oversees and manages the real-life details of the fan club
3. Member of the senior staff
4. Problem solving person for operations
5. Monthly reports
6. Communicates with operations personnel
7. Considers/approves operations request with XO approval
8. Support and attend community service and other projects
9. Attend all required meetings
10. All other duties as assigned
If you think you have what it takes to be the Raven Operation Officer, then send me an email for consideration for this position at: battlestarraven002.com
If you are one of those people that is ONLY seeking rank and position, then you are the wrong candidate for this Raven Command Staff Position. An ideal candidate should be a good team player ( there is NO I on TEAM) , has an " I can do attitude", does NOT have a chipped on their shoulder, has a positive attitude because if you are that type of person that loves to create a problem, then, do not let the door hit you on the way out. The Raven Battle Group is a very honorable group and has a good reputation in the scifi community. We value quality over quantity. This community of friends are here because they want too. Not because they are here for that ficticious rank and or position. So, if you think you have what it takes to be one of the Raven Command Staff Members, then send me an email explaining why you should be considered for the Ravens Operations Officer position on the Raven. REMEMBER, the first impression makes a lasting impression.

Basestar's in the shop, so I'm hookin' a ride with all the famous human's that were my supporting cast. Gonna' be a blast, check out the web site. Be there, by your command.
Toasters rule! Love and stainless steel kisses, Walter the Centurion.

The Book "Battlestar Galactica Vault" and "Battlestar Galactica The Board Game" are on sale at Barnes & Noble for HALF PRICE: list there is fifty USD for the game and forty for the book, so it's twenty-five and twenty now. Half dozen of each were on the table at the Pearland, TX B&N, today, Friday July 10.
July 9 is the Birthday of the Wizard of the Flight Deck, that Nugget Tormentor, he who can fix a Raptor or a rainy day with duct tape and a monkey wrench, that Abuser of all Pointy-Nosed Viper Jockeys and Raptor Drivers and owner of all the ships he just "loans" to them for missions: our very own Master Chief R.J. "Cueball" Beaton.
Known for his sunny disposition and love of pilots, he is always willing to give good advice, even to an unwilling recipient. It is always good to take his advice, since he has an irritating habit of being right all the time.
