Back from the Dallas Comic-Con

Welp, I made it back from the con. we had a great time and all went very smooth, which is unusual for me. We arrived early because the convention center has really crappy parking so it's show up early, or walk a while. I am glad this is the last show at this civic center and they are moving to a larger location since the show has grown. I figured we would be in line forever for Olmos, but we timed it where we were some of the first in the door so we got to his table within twenty minutes of getting inside.Olmos was very fan-friendly and took a minute to talk to my five year old. we had him sign my viper and a card and took a photo with him. We then moved to luciana Carro's table and again got a lucky break since she was just setting-up and did not have a line yet. She remembered me from the other shows and the photo I had her sign of us together from a couple of years ago, she remembered seeing it posted on her fanboard. She signed the pic and we took off to the star Wars guys area and got a pic signed for a friend who could not make it.We went to the dealer room and found a few bargains. I found a Classic BSG colonial Pistol that I had been looking for and grabbed a new t-shirt so i could keep my wardrobe updated.later we went to the Olmos Q&A which was very interesting. he talked about turning down a roll as captain of the Enterprise, and talked about Blade Runner. He was not interested in doing BSG unless they put it in the world of Blade Runner. he said he felt BR was the ultimate sci-fi movie and the only way he would do sci-fi again was to revisit that type of world. He said that he told the BSG powers that be that he was outta there the first time they brought in some four-eyed space monster. he also had some interesting things to say about the worlds problems.we got some good pics and cool toys. here are a few pics.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

The Chicago Comic-Con is now over!

The Chicago Comic-Con 2010 has wrapped up, and it was a wonderful experience! I attended all 4 days, and was able to spend a little bit of time with each of the the "Final Five" actors. They were all very gracious and personable people, a tremendous credit to the cylon race. OK, they are great humans too! Michael Hogan is definately the "life of the party" type person, while Michael Trucco and Kate Vernon really go out of thier way for the fans to make sure they speak to everyone. Rekha Sharma is a very personable person and will speak with you on a great many things.Unfortunately, Aaron Douglas could only spend Sunday with us because of scheduling conflicts - but he is just as great as the other 4. He made certain that I received a picture for the fancub that was taken at the Froggy booth of just the 5 of them (I will post later once I get it scanned). He spent time with every fan that walked up and always had a big grin on his face. Sunday was his only day off of his shooting schedule for the week, and he made sure to make it to the convention knowing he had to fly back out that night.I tried to take pictures of as many people I could find wearing BSG uniforms or t-shirts. At one point I was just standing by the entrance watching people file in - but since it took over 90 minutes for the line to file past when the floor opened on Saturday, I gave up after the first 30 minutes! Sorry if I missed anyone, I hope everyone that wanted to meet these wonderful actors was able to do so!

MRCP II MADE EASY

i STUMBLED ON THIS BOOK AND IT IS WRITTEN BY A HARVARD TRAINED PHYSICIAN WHO ALSO HAS AN INTEREST IN SILICON NANO LIFE FORMS AND ITS APPLICATION FOR A CURE OF CANCER. HE IS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS OF LONDON ( MRCP ). IT EXPLAINED MANY IDEAS ABOUT THIS REVOLUTIONARY TECHNIQUE SUCH AS THAT USED TO CURE THE PRESIDENT AND INTERLACES MODERN MEDICINE WITH STORIES FROM SHERLOCK HOLMES. IN FACT, THE BOOK BELIEVES THAT CYLONS AND TRANSFER OF CONSCIOUSNESS WILL SOON BE A REALITY. MY WIFE AND SON LOVES IT AND IT ALSO ADDS AN ELEMENT OF REALITY TO THE GREATEST SCIENCE FICTION SERIES I HAVE EVER SEEN.

Sci Fi Science Taping 07/16/2010

I attended another taping of the Science Channel Series, Sci-Fi Science : Physics of the Impossible with Michio Kaku on July 16th, 2010. This was for the 9th and 10th episodes of Season 2, and featured "How to Build a Cyborg" and "How to Defeat a Robot Army". The 501st Legion / Empire City Garrison Presented Dr. Michio Kaku his Honorary Friend Award. The 501st wanted to recognize Dr. Kaku for his work, exploring how Sci-Fi concepts like Light Sabers, the Death Star, and X-Wing fighters may someday be possible. There was a large turn out with around 50 Sci-Fi fans, with a few in costume. They had us stand outside the building and then tape the show and do the Q&A from about 2-6PM. The Second Season is expected to start airing in November or December of this year. There will be one more taping this year on August 6th. Here are some photos of the presentation and a link to the YouTube video as well.Photos (More to Come):

Battlestar Galactica Exhibition to open

Saw this and thought I would pass it on. Glad to see Galactica getting a little recognition.'Battlestar Galactica' Exhibition LaunchesEvent allows fans a chance to touch the seriesBy ALAN STANLEY BLAIR Jun-17-2010 Source: Airlock Alpha Ever fancied seeing a Cylon Raider up close? Or, how about a Colonial Viper?Well, now's your chance.Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum (EMP|SFM) has announced a partnership with Universal Cable Productions and Syfy with the aim to create an interactive and immersive exhibition experience based around Ronald D. Moore's "Battlestar Galactica." The event, which opens Oct. 23, includes three full-sized spaceships from the series as well as costumes, music and props that fans will certainly recognise.“The museum is honored to be organizing the first exhibition devoted to both series,” said Brooks Peck, curator for the event, in a release. “'Battlestar Galactica' is one of those rare science-fiction shows that appeals to a wide range of people because it combines high adventure with very personal drama. It explores what it means to be human, and has a lot of fun doing so.”To that effect, 15 costumes are part of the exhibition that demonstrates the commonplace humanity in an otherwise extra-terrestrial environment. In addition, there also will be several concept sketches charting the original premise to the final product, and the exhibition will pay homage to the birth of the series by representing the original 1970s version as well."Over its four-season run on Syfy, 'Battlestar Galactica' became an iconic series that not only entertained, but fulfilled the promise of all great science fiction," said Mark Stern, Syfy's executive vice president of original programming, in a release. "It provoked us into examining our world and ourselves through its politically charged, socially relevant, religious and technological themes. It is an honor for us to partner with EMP|SFM in this one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience BSG in an up-close and personal way.""Battlestar Galactica: The Exhibition" opens at EMP|SFM in Seattle on Oct. 23.

You can read it on Pink Raygun. She talks about her experience on BSG.A highlight:Who was your favorite BSG character to write for, and why?I had a fondness for all of the characters, but I took particular delight in writing scenes for Gaius Baltar. From the very first episode, Baltar is a two-edged sword. The survivors of this devastated world seek a scientist to offer answers and wisdom in a perilous time, and they get Gaius Baltar, a man with far more to hide than anyone can imagine. It was fun to put Baltar into odd alliances with various characters and watch him weasel out of trouble at every turn. Every action Baltar takes is designed to conceal his continued perfidy and save his own life, but in the process, he ascends to power and hero status among the fleet. One gets the sense that Baltar truly believes that power makes a man more handsome. Or at least taller. Eventually, even Baltar is forced to concede that power is illusory. And it’s then that he finally establishes a sense of peace over his role in determining the destiny of mankind.

LA-LA LAND RECORDS TO RELEASE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE PLAN/RAZOR

Humanity, And Composer Bear McCreary’s Music Live On With Soundtrack Release

Burbank, CA – February 9, 2010– La-La Land Records revisits the acclaimed TV seriesBattlestar Galactica with the release of the soundtrack for the two[feature-length] TV events, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan and BattestarGalactica: Razor on February 23, 2010. Both The Plan and Razor feature music by series composer BearMcCreary. La-La Land Records isreleasing the The Plan/Razor soundtracks through a license agreement with NBCUniversal Television, DVD, Music and Consumer Products Group.

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan/Razor composer McCreary’s Galactica score has beendescribed as "sharp and sensitive" (The Wall Street Journal), "akey element in establishing the show's dark, complex tone," (The HollywoodReporter) and "rich, raw, oddly stirring... kick-ass and powerful ashell," (E! Online). It"fits the action so perfectly, it's almost devastating: a sci-fi scorelike no other," (NPR). McCreary has performed sold-out shows with theBattlestar Galactica Orchestra during Comic Con in San Diego, and in LosAngeles at the Grand Performances series and at The Roxy.

McCreary currently scores the new FOX series Human Target, NBC’s Trauma and two seriesfor Syfy -- Eureka and the Battlestar Galactica prequel, Caprica, both of whichare produced by Universal Cable Productions. McCreary’s credits include the Capcom video game Dark Voidand the feature films Wrong Turn 2 and the Rest Stop films. McCreary was among a handful of selectprotégés of late film music legend Elmer Bernstein and is a classically trainedcomposer with degrees in Composition and Recording Arts from the prestigiousUSC Thornton School of Music.

“After finishing my four season journey scoring Battlestar Galactica and releasing four remarkable albums with La LaLand Records, I am thrilled to be able to return to this musical universe,”said McCreary. “These two scores make any fan's album collection complete.”

Edward James Olmos (Captain William “Husker” Adama) directed Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, which was released on DVD and Blu-Ray in 2009, and aired on Syfy in January2010. The Cylons began ashumanity's robot servants. They rebelled and evolved and now they look like us.Their plan is simple: destroy the race that enslaved them. But when theirdevastating attack leaves human survivors, the Cylons have to improvise.Battlestar Galactica: The Plan tells the story of two powerful Cylon leaders, working separately, and their determination to finish the task.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor also tells the story of what happens on the eve of adevastating Cylon attack, this time from the perspective of Officer Kendra Shaw-- who reports for duty on the Battlestar Pegasus. When mankind's future isforever changed on that fateful day, Kendra is reshaped into a 'razor', a toolof war, under the ruthless guidance of her commander, Admiral Cain. Battlestar Galactica: Razor tells theuntold story of Pegasus and provides chilling clues to the fate of humanity asthe final chapters of the Battlestar Galactica story unfold. Battlestar Galactica: Razor originallyaired on Syfy in November, 2007 and was released a week later on DVD andBlu-Ray.

“When I compiled the Season 4 soundtrack, it became clear that there was not enoughroom on even a two-disc set to accommodate cues from Razor and The Plan,” saidMcCreary. “Combining them on toone album made perfect sense, because both narratives flashback to the sametime period within the larger BSG story and offer different perspectives on thesame events. The scores to Razorand The Plan are two sides of the same musical coin.”

Also available from La-La Land Records are McCreary’s soundtracks for BattlestarGalactica Seasons 1, 2, 3 and 4, Caprica, Eureka, Terminator: The Sarah ConnorChronicles, Wrong Turn 2 and the Rest Stop films.
