They are making progress in their attempt to create real life skin jobs. This has happened before, and will happen again...and again...and again...and again... (Maybe). Anyway, they are becoming more and more realistic, and artificial intelligence is progressing exponentially as well. Sooooooo.....

It Appears That The Raven And Her Air Wing Got A Little More Than They Expected When They returned To The Void That was Encountered By The Raven Last November.
After A Raptor String Was Inserted Into The Void To Investigate The Ancient Signals Coming From It, What Soon Appeared Was Something The Cylons Had Lost During The First War.
This Photo Was Taken Soon After Contact Was Confirmed:
And, In The Meantime, Another Mystery Was Solved: Last Time, Lt.jg.'Bluto' Of SPARTAN SQUADRON Was Lost In The Void For Still Unexplained reasons; He Re-Appeared,Being Pursued By This Cylon Base Star From The First Cylon War; For Some Reason, Did Not Have Any Raiders To Send After Him; However, It's weapons Were Still In operation, And, It Got A Lucky Shot,Killing Bluto Before He Could Reach The Safety Of The Raven.
Here Is An Extreme Close-Up, Shot By One Of the Blackbirds:
The Raven Air Wing Then Sprung into Action; With This Shot, HAMMERS SQUADRON Disabled The Base Star,Enabling It To Be Boarded By Raven MARDET Teams:
Led By The Raven's Head Security Officer,Under Classified Orders, Boarded The Old Base Star, And Begun To Collect Data,Intel, And Images; All Also Classified At This Time; They Met Some resistance, But Were Able To Accomplish Their Mission.
The Biggest Discovery Was The Finding Of a 100 MT Nuclear Device At The Center Of The Base Star; One theory Is That The Base Star was To Be used As A Massive Kamikaze Ship, Used To Destroy A Large Group Of Colonial Military Vessels; Fortunately, The MARDET Teams Got Out Safe.
However, After The Wing Was On It's way Back To The Raven, Cylon Forces Popped Up; Possibly To Seize This Weapon For It's Own Use; Unfortunately For them, The Timer Was Already ticking Down To Detonation; The Raven Air Wing Executed Combat Landings On the Raven, And Raven was Able To Jump Clear Of The Shock Wave Which Came After This Explosion,Caught by Raven Cameras:
The Shockwave Ripped Apart A Nearby Planetoid, Along With The Cylon Base Star, And It's Raiders.
A Most recent Recon Sweep Has revealed That the Void Entrance Was Obliterated, Leaving Behind Debris; In all Likelihood, The Void Has been sealed; However, it Cannot Be Scientifically Ruled out If there Is Another Entrance,Somewhere; Our Universe Has lots Of Unknowns.
Our Casualties Were Light; And, If What we Learned Can Benefit The Colonies, And The Fleet, Then Bluto's sacrifice Was Not In Vain!

Hello, I saw a thread about someone looking for some Colonial Warrior Viper Helmets. I did some checking, and EFX collectibles still has a few left. They are pricey, but they are a lot less expensive than the one s on Ebay and other sites. Just trying to help out.

Saturday Nights aboard the Battlestar Raven BFC-002 are never boring or just another saturday night. When ever our crew gets together with a fresh idea for a mission there's on stopping us from having fun and shooting up the Forum Chat Area at the BFC. Last Saturday Night was no exception. The crew of the Raven were pitted against Humanity's most feared enemies the "Cylons."
I encourage you to read through the mission to determine if you would like to join us and have fun!!! There are many ways to get involved aboard the Battlestar Raven. There are six Viper Squadrons, One Raptor Squadron, The Few The Proud "Raven Marines," Security, Engineering, and Sick Bay. Check out this link and make your choice, you'll be glad you did!!! http://battlestarfanclub.com/groups/group/listByLocation?location=Battlestar+Raven
The Battlestar Raven is becoming a Battle Group with the addition of the Gunstar Trireme. The Trireme is looking for a few good members to join the crew. Take a look at this link to see if this is where you would like to serve:

Return to the Void Mission #2 June 21, 2014
MISSION BRIEFING
ATTENTION ON DECK! At ease!
Okay People, Listen Up! Remember the 'Void' We Visited Last November, The One Where We Couldn't Find Anything But Darkness, Save One Strange Light Phenomena That Swallowed up Lt Jg. Bluto?
Well, We Are Heading Back That way; According To A CDF Sensor Buoy, Some Cylon Signals, Strangely Enough, Dating Back To The FIRST CYLON WAR, Have Been detected coming From the Void; There Have been Unconfirmed Rumors About The Toasters Actually Losing Some Kind Of 'Secret Weapon' In That Dark Space; The Fact Is, This Went Missing:
Obviously, One Of their Mega Basestar’s Went looking For Something, And Never Came Out; For What Reason, We Do Not Know.
The Raven Has Orders To Investigate This Matter; However, We Are NOT Going To Take Any Chances With Our Fighter Squadrons This Time; We Will Use The Same Raptor String As We Did Before, Except, Blackbirds One And Two Will Accompany Them; All Craft Will Be Equipped With Ultra-Sensitive Recording Devices; The Blackbirds Will Also Carry Gunpods For Self Defense; The Spartans, Flying Tigers, Hammers And Minotaur’s Will Park just outside The Void Entrance; The Raven Will Be 30 Klicks Out, Standing By.
I Can't Tell You Exactly What, Or Who Will Come out To Play, However, Everybody Had Better Have their Heads On the Swivel, Because While we Are Looking In, The Real Toasters Could pop Up; In That Threshold, Anything's Possible!
Further Updates as they Become Available.
Dismissed!

The highest compliment is to be called a professional. The best friends accept you, but don’t put up with your BS. The great experiences in life are entertaining and educational. The guides to the right path are Family, Friends and Faith. The noblest heroes are not perfect, but they are amazing.
To She who never sleeps, to the “iron fist in the velvet glove”, to “all of the above”. With respect and unquestioned loyalty, from the Gypsies and Pirates you turned into the finest Crew in the Fleet.
SO SAY WE ALL!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY , HAPPY BIRTHDAYYY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUUUUUUUUU!
Can I sing or can I not sing! Heheh!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY FRIEND!
JUST JOKING ON THIS ONE LOL! :-)
I just wanted to wish the BEST CHAPTER CO there is out there who always puts her members well being ahead of hers, a very Happy Birthday.
Now dropping all formality aside! Cherry, you and I have been friends a for a very long time now. It has been a pleasure so far being a part the BFC and the Raven. You always raise the bar for each of the things you do for the club and the Raven. You lead by example. And you do the same even in real life. I hope by the time you read this message, you are relaxing and enjoying your weekend as you deserve it. It is your birthday my friend. We will keep an eye out for the Raven. Just sit back and relax with your family, husband and children! I may not be as talented and artistic as you are, but I can surely at least find something nice out there for you. :-)
A big hug to you from the distance Cherry!

The Raven Colonial Marine Detachment Patch and Banners are filled with heraldry and symbols that express their creed, beliefs and values. The following are the descriptions of these symbols and what we hold each to represent.
- Stars represent Excellence, and the numerous stars mean we expect effort and results in everything we do.
- The laurel wreath signifies Success and Victory.
- The eagles stand for Bravery, Strength, Intelligence and Awareness. Eagles with wings displayed also signify Protection.
- The use of the Classic style BSG patch demonstrates Respect for the Past, along with our ties and debt to it.
- The anchor stands for Steadfast Dependability.
- The skull represents Mortality and Sacrifice.
- The words are our Ship and our Creed. The very word “Raven” means “Strategist in Battle”.
- The crossed Weapons represent Military Honor, and the use of long guns are unique to the Marines on board.
- The combination of Beret, Flash, Skull and Long Guns are meant to identify the Marines and their Function to those seeing it even if they can’t read the words.
First and formost, I would like to say first, that the new Raven Marine logo is ONLY exclusive to the Raven Marines. I repeat, this is ONLY for the Raven Marines. Alteration of the newly redesigned Raven Marine logo is NOT permitted without the explicit permission of the Raven Leadership.
Each graphic on the newly redesigned Raven Marine logo has a meaning. It was specifically chosen for a reason and put together in the manner it did. I am new to the fandom world so as I learned more about it, I wanted a design that stands for something. So with Raven Actual's help and ability to put things together, this was brought to life. Hopefully this will make the Raven Marines unique in its own sense and that to those the FEW and the PROUD, current and future Raven Colonial Marines, will be able to proudly wear it when this becomes an official patch. Raven Marine NCOIC Paul "Iceworm" Oakley will do the honor of explaining what it stands for.

A blast from the past!
This is an interview I did with Aaron Douglas back in 2005...for those who haven't seen it, here it is!
The Battlestar Galactica Fan Club President Shawn O’Donnell “BGR” recently interviewed Actor Aaron Douglas, who plays Chief Tyrol on the new Battlestar Galactica series. Mr. Douglas was kind enough to take a few moments and sit down and chat with us about his career, and the new series. Much thanks to Lena Leeds and Russ Mortensen at Pacific Artists for making this interview possible. And special thanks to Lisa Christensen who takes care of Aaron’s website at: http://aarondouglas.biz/
Shawn: What was it that started you in the field of acting? when did the notion come to you?
Aaron:My mom tells me that it was my desire to be an actor since I was a little boy. I do not remember ever saying this to her but who argues with their mother? I have done drama in school all of my life and after high school I participated in dinner theatre and community theatre.
I had never thought to ‘go after’ acting professionally until Garry Davey, the artistic director of the William B. Davis school in Vancouver took me aside one night after a scene study class and told me I should pursue this as a career. He told me that they had a full time acting program that started in the fall, it was April at the time, and that he would hold a spot for me if I chose to attend.
I thought about it for many months and then one night after attending a performance of Ragtime at the then Ford Center for Performing Arts I decided to leave my job and go to acting school. I was 27 at the time.
Shawn: What do you consider your first “big break” in the acting field?
Aaron: Big break? Not sure. My first really smart move was hiring my present agent, Russ Mortensen and my present management, Roar. I guess Battlestar would be the show that has given me the most work and notoriety. I am still relatively unknown so I don’t think the traditional ‘big break’ has happened yet.
Shawn: Let me ask you about your first Television experience, was that a commerical or series?
Aaron: First on set experience was Inspectors 2. I had no idea what I was doing or where I had to go or who I had to see so I wandered around until people started asking if they could help and I told them I was an actor and needed to check in. I was directed to the background tent and then finally to the circus where I was ignored by an Assistant Director until he figured out who I was and then bent over backwards to make things good for me.
I remember thinking that this guy didn’t give a shit about me until he realize I was an actor and not a low ranking crew or background person. I thought that was pretty shitty. I will never forget him. But it was fun and I did it without wrecking the scene, so it was all good.
Shawn: You’ve done a lot of films! 2004 was very busy for you, “The Chronicles of Riddick”, “Walking Tall”, to “Catwoman”… So far these have been supporting roles, do you think that you’re developing a “standard character” so to speak thats adaptable to those roles?
Aaron: All the roles of 2004, which were all shot in 2003, were basically no name guy with two lines. There is a casting director in town who really likes my work and whenever a show needs a one line good actor guy, she offers it to me. They get a good actor and I get to put a big show on my resume.
That is, all those shows are resume builders. That and I believe you should try not to say no to anything, within reason. You get to meet a new director and producers and work with some really great people. My time on I, Robot and X2 will never be forgotten because I met people like Will Smith and Hugh Jackman, who are two of the best human beings you will ever meet.
Everything good that has been said about those two does not do them justice and that was a great experience for me. To see how mega-stars act on the set..and that there is no reason to be the prima donnas that so many are these days.
Now a movie like Walking Tall is a great example of a small role that was offered to me that became a pivotal point in the movie. The director, Kevin Bray talks about this in the commentary on the the DVD. Stuff like that gets you remembered.
Shawn: On that same subject, do you want take that character (if there is one) and try to project that into lead character parts?
IAaron: don’t really have a standard character. I am just me. Some of these small parts I do are really simple and it is just a matter of standing there and saying a line.
Shawn: Following up, do you see yourself doing leads in the future? you certainly are building up a resume…
Aaron: do want to have much larger roles in features, and that time is coming…
Shawn: Going back to the Television question, what series do you get the most out of that you’ve worked on? outside of Battlestar Galactica.
Aaron: I really enjoyed the sense of fun and play on the Smallville and Andromeda sets. I also was interested to see the amount of work that a guy like Anthony Michael Hall…on the set of The Dead Zone, has to put into everyday being basically a one man show. He is in almost every scene and works everyday. It was a good learning experience for me in terms of preparation.
When I say “get the most out of” of course I mean work satisfaction, experience etc. How about the films you’ve done? I would put the same question to you, which one so far have you gotten the most out of?
Films. Satisfaction would be Final Destination 2. Taking a small non-descript role and making him the bumbling cop on my own and having them…the director, etc, letting me keep going farther with it. It was where I really learned that I could improvise and unless they told me to stop to just keep going. Many directors lose the best work and best pieces because they don’t let their actors play or bring their creativity to the role. This is especially true of some writer/directors.
Meeting the cast of X2 was tremendous. They are all so gracious and professional. Hanging out with Will Smith. The time I enjoyed the most was doing a movie of the week for ABC with Patrick Dempsey, Kimberly Williams and Jennifer Copping.
Another one of those roles that was three lines in the script but where the director, my friend Harry Winer, let me loose and let Patrick and I play. It was so much fun.
Shawn: Theatre?
Aaron: Theatre, playing Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet. That and one time I played both Theseus and Oberon in the same production.
Shawn: I have heard that you are the most ardent fan of the original Battlestar Galactica, is that true?
Aaron: I remember the original Battlesar Galactica from my childhood, .I loved that show.
Yes, I am a fan!
Ahawn: Was it difficult for you to adjust to you’re role on the new series considering the big difference between the two shows?
Aaron: No.Tyrol was not in the original so I did not have that prejudice. On one hand I hate remakes. Hate them. Some things should just never be done. So I was mad when I heard they were redoing this but after I read the script I was able to see that it was something different and new.
I can now look at them as two separate pieces. Like The Lord of the Rings. Those books are amazing and when I heard they were making movies out of them I thought that was really too bad. But the movies were so great that you really have to see them as two separate pieces of art. They will never match each other, but they don’t have to.
It is not about that. I like both Battlestar Galactica’s.
Shawn: What do you see for the new series…? It’s future I mean…
Aaron: I have no idea where this show is going. Hopefully it runs for a few years. My main wish for it would be to keep pushing the envelope. Get Tyrol to do some really cool stuff that stretches me as an actor.
Shawn: What do you see for yourself “beyond Battlestar” as it were…?
Aaron: I have no idea there either. I take it one day at a time. I don’t get too caught up in the future or the past. All I have is today. Take care of today and tomorrow will take care of itself. Life is not a dress rehearsal. There is no second take. So do what you love right now and trust that desire. Why wait?
Shawn: Do you have some other projects in mind?
Aaron: I am working on more of my own stuff. I have a group of friends who get together and we make all kinds of short films and send them to festivals all around the world.
I am almost finished with my first feature script, so hopefully we will be shooting that in the fall of 2005.
Shawn: Do you have a specific “dream role” or something that you have aspired to do as an actor, or writer, or director for that matter?
Aaron: Dream role. I would really like to do a Thin Red Line type of movie. That ensemble camaraderie ugliness of war film. I want to do a movie where people walk out stunned. That and a great comedy. A crazy boys out of control movie. And a hockey movie.
Shawn: Any suggestions or hints for aspiring actors and actresses out there?
Aaron: Aspiring actors. A couple of things. In the audition room remember this: They want you to get the part. They are dying to cross that character off the list and say good, we got that one. They are not against you. Don’t make this audition your reason to live another day. It is only a TV show. You are not saving lives or fighting for your life 3,000 miles from home. There are worse situations. Pop into a local V.A. hospital and you will see. Also remember that if you are the last one standing you will be chosen. Persevere. Grab stories of your favorite actors and read what every one of those who have gone before you went through before they could quit that serving job. And enjoy the journey. It is the stories along the way that make the movie of your life, not the ending. It is those little moments that you will remember and others will remember as well. See the baby steps along the way and you will see how far you have come. There is no ending. There is no ultimate goal. If someone told me that I have made it and that is it, I would be devastated, I am 33 and that is it? Am I done then? I remember the times in the car and the hotels and the bad road food more than I remember the place the road trip was taking us. The time on the bus is often better than the game itself. Keep going and work hard, but have fun. We all came from that screwed up family in the small town where no one thought we would make it.
ELON MUSK SAYS AI ADVANCES MAY BE DANGEROUS.
http://www.businessinsider.com/musk-on-artificial-intelligence-2014-6
Elon Musk, who holds multiple Executive positions with Tesla and SpaceX, and is perhaps the foremost authority on Mars and other space exploration and "smart-cars", expressed on CNBC last night that advances in artificial intelligence (AI) could be "dangerous" to humans in the future. Sound like any SyFy show you know? His vast investment in Vicarious FCP Inc., an artificial intelligence company based in San Francisco, also places him in the forefront of a technology which he said closely parallels "Terminator" scenarios. Vicarious models devices after the human brain (cue the BSG music here, roll the credits, and hire Elon for the next movie).

"Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad" as spoken by Prometheus in Henry Wadsworth's The Masque of Pandora.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Alec Peters and discuss his latest project and it was an interesting talk.
I've known Alec for around 15 years so it was pretty easy to just launch right into the questions for this...and yes, he has always been a big fan of sci-fi!
The project in question of course is the upcoming Star Trek: Prelude to Axanar....
Shawn: So why a Star Trek project?
What made you want to do a Trek project as opposed to any other universe?
Alec: I have been a Star Trek fan since I was six years old...It is my favorite of "geekinesses".
I also love comics, sci-fi in general, gaming etc. So I am a pretty rounded geek...but Star Trek is my first love in that regard.
Shawn: So what made you choose the Battle of Axanar?
It's a fairly obscure reference from the third season of Star Trek, from the episode "Whom Gods Destroy" whose main protagonist is the character of Garth of Izar...
Alec: I was always fascinated by Garth...here was Kirk's hero. What was he like?
Why was he the role model of a whole generation of ship's captains?
And what was the Battle of Axanar and why was it a pivotal event in the Federation?...I wanted to know the answer to all these questions.
Shawn: So when you started this project out, what were your thoughts on casting?
Alec: I knew I wanted Richard Hatch as my Klingon leader...Richard was my first acting coach twenty years ago and he is now. He is amazing! I knew he could pull off the Klingon I wanted.
After that it was looking for actors who could fit the characters who I wrote in the script.
JG Hertzler made the perfect old crusty Starfleet Captain and we got lucky and got Tony Todd to play our Admiral...and he has serious gravitas.
The only exception was Kate Vernon who we specifically wrote in a character for as Christian Gossett and I loved her so much when we met her.
Shawn: As far as getting those actors to participate, how did all that come about?
Alec: Well, Richard turned us on to them...Christian and I are huge Battlestar Galactica fans.
But we pretty much wanted to have both Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek actors in Axanar.
Just two franchises with a wealth of talent...
Shawn: You portray Garth in the film..so how did that come around?
Alec: Well, back in 2010 I bought the original costume Steve Inhat wore as Garth.
I am a huge collector of screen used Star Trek props and costumes.
It was one of my Holy Grails, since I love that character so much...then I was talking about costumes one day with James Cawley of Star Trek Phase II & I had mentioned that I had gotten the costume.
We discussed what a great character Garth as and how it was too bad that Star Trek had never explored the character more.
James said, "Well, you know we are shooting an episode called 'Origins' which is about Kirk at the Academy and that was the time of Garth. We should add him to the script!"
And I said "You should!" to which James replied, "Well, you should play him".
So I did.
While at lunch with James one day during the shoot, I told him my Axanar story and he said I should produce it...and that started me on a journey, that is now four years later in 2014 finally seeing its culmination.
Shawn: Speaking of ideas for the film and it's origins...how much did the Four Years War storyline play into it?
It's a very detailed source book for the Star Trek role playing game...
Alec: I read the FASA role playing games and was of course fascinated by the story of Garth and the whole Four Years War story...it was just natural to give a nod to the FASA universe and make this about that war, of course I changed things around to fit my narrative...
Shawn Have you been surprised by the support for the film?
Alec: Yes, but then again...we are all fans and we KNOW what we want to see!
So it felt good with the direction we were going...and we are making Star Trek that we as fans want to see, so in a way it is not a surprise that others want to see that too.
Shawn: Do you think that combination of the subject of Star Trek and the inclusion of Battlestar Galactica actors helps to establish a bridge between the two universes?
Alec: Well, both are great franchises...I happen to think that the reimagined Battlestar Galactica is the best sci-fi show ever!.
Star Trek is my first love though...they each stand on their own.
We are just casting the best actors out there for the roles...and if they happen to be from Battlestar Galactica, so be it.
Shawn: Where do you want to take this?
Where do you want the film to go & what results would you like to see?
Alec: I think our ultimate goal is for CBS to take notice and think about talking to us and involve us in Star Trek moving forward....all the current films you see out there are independent Star Trek, but maybe we can show we are worthy of working on the next CBS Television series.
Be sure to keep up to date on the this film at: Star Trek: Axanar

Welcome So Say We All !!!!!!
This time around we got a chance to speak with JG (John) Hetzler, very well known for his role as General and then Chancellor Martok on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Ironically John's first appearance on Deep Space Nine was not at Martok, but in the pilot episode of that show as the Vulcan captain of the doomed USS Saratoga at the battle of Wolf 359.
Besides playing other characters within the Star Trek franchise, John has appeared in the tv movie Pirates of Silicon Valley and made appearances on Six Feet Under, Charmed, Roswell, Quantum Leap, Highlander and Zorro.
His voice over work includes Bioshock & Injustice: Gods Among Us.
On stage John has appeared in Inherit the Wind as well as directing A Midsummer Night's Dream and in 2007 became a Resident Profession Teaching Associate (RPTA) at the Cornell University Department of Theatre.
In November 2013 he was elected to the town council of Ulysses New York.
Shawn: What was your first convention experience?....first con?
John: I can't recall for certain, could have been Shoreleave in Baltimore or Galileo 7 in Bremen Germany.
Shawn: How did it go as far you recall?
John: Fabulously for both...love Shoreleave since my sister could come to see it & Bremen started a long love affair with Germany that continues to this day.
Shawn: Best Con you've been to?
John: Paris....SticCon in Bellaria Italy...Bremen...and FedCon in Bonn, Germany.
Actually the CreationCon's in Las Vegas are right up there! Especially at the Rio and the VooDoo Lounge...
Shawn: Worst Con?
John: One in Texas...it was cancelled right in the middle of it! Bob (Robert O'Reilly) and I & John Blllingsley went on with everything anyway, didn't want to let the fans down. Star Trek fans are the best!
Shawn: Who would you say was the strangest or most unusual fan you've encountered at a Con?
John: In Australia...a kid told me that Martok was his inspiration not to harm others!
Shawn: So any actual bad experiences?
John: The one mentioned in Texas...and New Zealand and only because it is paradise and I couldn't stay there forever!
Shawn: If you were running a convention, what would you do differently?
John: More shows by the guest actors, more cosplay...fewer wolf tails attached to peoples waists...more steam punk events and more art shows.
Shawn: Ever want an autograph yourself?
John: I have many...Mikhail Gorbachev, Noel Coward, Mickey Mantle, Ward Bond, the exquisite Alice Krige, The Three Tenors (Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras & Luciano Pavarotti) & Neil Armstrong...
Shawn: What projects are you currently working on?
John: Four film scripts...one going into pre-productions called Dancing with Sancho Panza which is about the 1936 Spanish civil war, Heartland which is about a kid blowing up a Walmart, Republic about the immediate future of America & The Fracking War about the coming unrest over energy.
Directing stage production of Sinclair Lewis' It Can't Happen Here about fascism in American in the 1930s and Jesus Christ Superstar for next Easter.
Shawn: Future Projects?
John: Some I named already...but others might be Monty Python's The Holy Grail for stage, A filmed version of TheTaming of the Shrew (a very, very dark interpretation)...ParJacques Brel is alive and well and living in Paris and a film script for John Brown, Abolitionist.
