Battlestar Galactica Exhibition to open

Or, how about a Colonial Viper?Well, now's your chance.Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum (EMP|SFM) has announced a partnership with Universal Cable Productions and Syfy with the aim to create an interactive and immersive exhibition experience based around Ronald D. Moore's "Battlestar Galactica." The event, which opens Oct. 23, includes three full-sized spaceships from the series as well as costumes, music and props that fans will certainly recognise.“The museum is honored to be organizing the first exhibition devoted to both series,” said Brooks Peck, curator for the event, in a release. “'Battlestar Galactica' is one of those rare science-fiction shows that appeals to a wide range of people because it combines high adventure with very personal drama. It explores what it means to be human, and has a lot of fun doing so.”To that effect, 15 costumes are part of the exhibition that demonstrates the commonplace humanity in an otherwise extra-terrestrial environment. In addition, there also will be several concept sketches charting the original premise to the final product, and the exhibition will pay homage to the birth of the series by representing the original 1970s version as well."Over its four-season run on Syfy, 'Battlestar Galactica' became an iconic series that not only entertained, but fulfilled the promise of all great science fiction," said Mark Stern, Syfy's executive vice president of original programming, in a release. "It provoked us into examining our world and ourselves through its politically charged, socially relevant, religious and technological themes. It is an honor for us to partner with EMP|SFM in this one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience BSG in an up-close and personal way.""Battlestar Galactica: The Exhibition" opens at EMP|SFM in Seattle on Oct. 23.
