Bear McCreary will be at Dark Delicacies!

Bear McCreary the Composer of the new Battlestar Galactica music will at the Dark Delicacies shop for a CD signing of the Socom 4 game (look it up if you don't know what it is) It's a pretty amazing first person shooter game; though I like to call em simulators because like Call of Duty, they are awesomely realistic in game play, story line, characters and graphics.

Great music for this game. From what I've read closely follows his awesome delivery and way of using multi-cultural instruments as with BSG that immerses you completely. Should be great to meet him.

Building a road to the future

My friends, Brothers & Sisters, BFC & CDF, Fellow Colonials.

We have a wonderful opportunity ahead of us, we are setting the agenda & we are the power.

Some of  you may remember & perhaps some not, the early days, before Battlestar Galactica came upon the scene again.

I was there, Daniel Allan was there.

A host of people were there whose names you may or may not know.

I will tell you this...it was the beginning... the beginning of a cause...it was a cause caught flame to spark a regeneration, a new beginning for Battlestar Galactica.

We were there to make it happen and please trust me when I say that it would not have happened without the tireless efforts of the fans.

The catalyst...?

Richard Hatch...he was the one to take the ball & run with it...he inspired the movement.

I do not say this because Richard is my friend, I SAY this because it is true.

This is what I like to refer back to as "The Resurrection War".

It was a true battle in every sense of the word...the outcome as you can see...with all of you being there & involved...was, and is success.

We now have a new a new battle ahead & that is to reaffirm our faith, not only in our common cause, but each other, united.

I want to thank all of you, the fans for your continued support...YOU are what makes us great, I love you all & respect you from the bottom of my heart for your continuing support.

I want to thank again Danial Allan for his tireless work in making things happen & our whole leadership staff.

A very special nod to our partners in unity with the Colonial Defense forces, Johnathon "Gumby" Simmons & Miguel Rivera...Gumby, Miguel...you are the best!

Thank you CDF...ALL of  you..your are part of our collective strength & success!

I also want to thank all of our celebrity members....Stu Phillips, Jack Stauffer, Terry Carter & of course Edward James Olmos & Richard Hatch.

All of you, you are the best people on the planet...I am honored to serve by you.

Brace yourself everyone...bigger & better is on the way, we will take you for the ride of your life on the very BEST fan experience you can have.

This Friday, I reassume the Presidency of the Fan Club and I am profoundly honored to serve you, I pledge that I will do my very best to do that for both the BFC & CDF.

Remember, I serve you & I am at your command.

The very best to all of you around this glorious planet we call Earth, keep the faith my friends & may the Lords of Kobol bless us all in the great quest.

So say we all!

Yup, Tricia Helford will be at the Anaheim, California ComicCon this coming Saturday & guess who plans on being there? We are certainly going to get some pictures, but hopefully we can get a few words from her as well.

I will be the first to admit that I have not had a huge amount of contact with the cast of the new Galactica, I did do some interviews of course which I would suppose would constitute contact at least for those moments...say with Tahmoh, Connor etc.

Had a few back & forth's with Aaron Douglas via email too, I think he's the kind of guy you can have a beer with!

Of course it goes without saying that Richard Hatch is a dear friend of mine...

BUT, I've never talked to Tricia...been in the same building, just never met her.

Never, ever...so this will be a treat.

Hopefully we can bring back some interesting stuff for all of you!

Again, reporting from the frontlines...

Shawn

[Taken from http://www.hitfix.com/articles/battlestar-galactica-heading-to-bbc-america]

Looks like those frakkin' toasters were right when they said "All this has happened before and all this will happen again."

Get ready to re-live the whole "Battlestar Galactica" experience, as BBC American has just announced it will be airing all 80 hours of the hit Sci Fi Channel show.

The original miniseries, plus all four seasons of the hit show's run will join the channel’s Supernatural Saturday line up starting Saturday, June 18, at 7:00pm ET/PT. The spin-off movies "Razor" and "The Plan," not to mention the short-lived "Caprica" series, don't seem to be a part of the deal.

In case you missed it, and be sure to order BBC America if you did, "Battlestar" is a re-imagining of the 1970s show, where the last remaining human survivors of a galaxy-wide genocide ban together to find at new home ("Earth") while being pursued by their robotic Cylon attackers. As the show progresses, the humans, led by Admiral Adama (Edward James Olmos) and the Galactica crew, discover they may have misunderstood their enemies, their motives, and their connection to them.

The show also stars Katee Sackhoff ("24"), Mary McDonnell ("Independence Day," "Scream 4"), James Callis ("Eureka"), former model/playmate Tricia Helfer, Grace Park (the new "Hawaii 5-0") and Jamie Bamber ("Dollhouse").

The re-imagining was developed by David Eick and Ronald D. Moore.

Meanwhile, new stories from the "Battlestar" universe will unfold in the upcoming "Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome" pilot, in which Luke Pasqualino (the U.K. "Skins") will play a young Adama during the first Cylon War. Adama butts heads with his superior officer, Coker Ben Cotton ("Hellcats"), before they bond on a dangerous mission in Cylon territory. Lili Bordan ("Silent Witness") plays Dr. Beka Kelly, a researcher who had a hand in creating the Cylons.

A mission statement for Checkers Green

The concept of Checkers Green came about after observing the amount of charity work in which the stars of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica are involved. Their devotion to social, civic, humanitarian, and environmental issues is impressive and admirable -- and inspirational.

Inspiration is ultimately what Checkers Green has been created to provide, or at least to be a venue for it.

If asked, most of us would probably agree that it’s all too easy to get wrapped up in the whirlwind of daily life and forget to give back. Or to be left with your head spinning when you think about all the places you could make your contribution and not being able to decide, or knowing which is even legitimate.

This is where Checkers Green comes in for BSG fans.

The aim of the site is to turn the spotlight on the activism and charitable works of the stars, gathering as much information as possible and putting it in one location, offering it up to fans as potential opportunities to give.

Bodie Olmos’ (Brendan “Hot Dog” Constanza) recent fund-raising in conjunction with his run in the L.A. Marathon provided me such an opportunity. It felt good to give. It felt great to cheerlead his fundraising, but it felt absolutely amazing to watch that total climb to more than $10,000 by the end of the race and know it was going to fight cancer, a disease that robbed me of two of the most important men in my life at young ages.

The joy of giving is what I hope to spread to other Battlestar Galactica fans with Checkers Green

It is my wish that it will help circumvent some of the “obstacles” to giving that daily life tosses at us and provide inspiration for people to step up and help in whatever way moves them.

What we are

Everyone,

I felt I should say this to all of you.

This association is based upon very sound human principles aside from our collective love of Battlestar Galatica.

In our association world wide, we have no barriers.

It does not matter what color you are, what sex you are, what religon you believe in, your political views, your nationality, your sexual orientation, your disability, what country you reside in...none of that is relevent.

We are brothers & sisters under the same credo & belief....we are one by virtue of a common passion.

We are united, we are stong & we will continue to be strong.

Our fundamental strength, the strength of the Battlestar Fan Club...the Battlestar GALACTICA fan club...is all of you.

You are all the bedrock, you are the foundation, you are the diversity that makes a common us.

YOUR energy fuels us & moves us forward & we have great faith in that & in you.

Not for one minute, not for one second do we take our eyes off the fact that all of you make the difference.

I could become very melodramatic & say you are all "The wind beneath or wings" but essentially that is the case.

YOU lift us, you propel us, you make the fan club.

You are our most vital strength.

I wanted to say two things in all this....that we are ever embracing & that you make the difference...

As Stan "the man" Lee likes to say...

"Nuff said"

So say we all!

Hey everyone,

Reporting back from the sunny frontlines in equally sunny & hot Burbank, California!

Today fellow Battlestar Fan Club member Herb Brunner paid a visit on a certain composer of a certain musical theme...of course the imcomparable Stu Phillips (Stu, I know you are going to read this!)...so I'll add in the magnificent on top of that!

The place: Dark Delicacies...and for you folks in the Golden State that would be at 3512 W Magnolia St in Burbank...pay them a visit.

This is a bookstore that specializes in the horror & fantasy genre (hence the name) which of course I found fascinating.

The event: a signing by some very talented composers that included not only Stu but also Mark Isham "The Conspirator" & Cliff Martinez "Solaris" among others

Stu was there signing for the newly remastered 'Battlestar Galactica: A Saga of a Star World" which was just issued by Intrada.

I'm the proud owner of a copy!

Herb, lucky man, got a copy too...!!!

OK, so I did say in my caption that we had something here that you had never heard before.

I think I can say that with complete confidence.

Stu actually wrote a variation on the Battlestar Galactica theme back in '78 & as far as Stu knows the only time anybody ever mentioned to him that they had heard it was actually Glen Larson who heard it in a hotel lobby in Hawaii & was so excited by it that he actually telephoned Stu right then & there to tell him about it!

Folks, I give you...Battlestar Galactica...the DISCO version!!!

ONE YEAR LATER: The oil is still here and continues to impact our coast and communities while further eroding the Gulf’s already suffering natural storm protection of wetlands and barrier islands. Over 1,000 miles of coast have been oiled, increasing the football field of coastal wetlands we lose every 45 minutes.

Recent, troubling news has come in the form of two hundred dead dolphins washing up in the BP impact zone, and new oil spills reminding us we have yet to learn the lessons of the BP disaster, despite the fact that drilling has resumed off-shore.

A very, very special treat for all of you!

Brothers & Sisters,

I have a very, very special treat for you this evening...right now, if I was a dog my tail would be wagging!

With the utmost sense of honor, I got permission from Bear McCreary to use a Battlestar Galactica track that he composed that overlaid the music of the original Battlestar Galactica theme...so this is really a hybrid of what Bear & Stu Phillips composed.

I don't know how many of you have heard this theme or not...I'm willing to bet that most of you have not.

This music is so stirring & sums up what we are about.

To be honest I'm getting emotional writing this!

Personally, I think it would be the perfect theme to frame the partership between the Battlestar Fan Club & the Colonial Defense Forces.

It really sums up everything.

Please click on the Bear McCreary interview in the blog section & THEN click on "read the rest of the interview..."

You will be rewarded beyond the dreams of Avarice

Brothers & Sisters,

I call us that because we are one family, united & strong.

33 years ago a journey was begun, that continues now...this IS our journey.

It is what my good & dear friend Richard Hatch likes to call "Synergy"...We, all of us create this.

We are the event.

Momentous things have been happening as of late, something which I like to call a turning point in all our affairs.

This great partnership between the Battlestar Fan Club & the Colonial Defense Forces  will serve not only to bring out the best in both, but benefit our common future.

While there are many turning points, this is in fact a crucial one...we are collectively on a mission.

We are tasked with continuing to build the very, very best experience for everyone involved...that would be me & you!

The sky is the limit & the future is bright for us all, united.

I want to thank President Daniel Allan for all that he is doing, I will give that man considerable cred...he bust's his, well you know what!

A true believer & a true soldier & a man that I cannot do without.

Chris Feehan & I began this club 11 years ago, not knowing what would happen....we did know that we had a cause.

We were right & we sparked a revolution...oh, not just me & Chris...all of us.

This is what people power means, all of us can make a difference...how else did three new Battlestar Galactica shows happen?

People, we will make this a continuing legacy, make our mark & fight the ever good fight.

We continue, we will always continue!

So say we all!

Another favorate!

One of my favorite flight scenes of this episode is when Starbuck & Hot Dog fly like boy and girl kids on patrol & at play.

Apollo while on patrol as well but in a new viper breaks off and pursues Starbuck after she encounters a mystery Cylon heavy Raider. I have to admit, this clip does the new vipers justice, looks hot!

Starbuck, Hot Dog, and Apollo
