Sure, there have been other Cons...but this isn't just a Con...this is an EVENT (you notice I said that twice right?).

Just a friendly reminder.  I previously mentioned to some of you that the computers are all fried at my place of employment, and I have been using a family computer to do all welcoming and posting on the Battlestar Galactica Fan Club site during the Christmas and New Year holidays.  This will not be the case when the holidays are over, so after New Year, I will not be able to welcome, greet, and support new members of the Battlestar Galactica Fan Club or the Battlestar Atlantia, at least not in a timely and consistent fashion.  We do not want for anybody to be or feel left out or slighted, so please respond accordingly.

It's a great club, and I'll try to visit and check it out when I can, but my timely and consistent participation can not be guaranteed as of New Years.

Sincerely,

John David Feagin

Agreed 100,000% Mr. President.  I don't talk politics or make others feel unwelcome.  You can't blame an individual because their leaders do things you may not like...AND...perhaps, JUST PERHAPS...they have a unique perspective that you don't because maybe they know more than you do.  A fan club is supposed to be fun for all.

Also, just an observation.  I DO hope the club does get lots of membership from such areas mentioned.  The fact that they LIKED but didn't join yet very likely is because they fear possible persecution, reprisals, etc.  All electronic communications are tracked to greater or lesser extent in all countries.  Liking is one thing...Joining up and giving out your personal data is a much larger step, that may or may not draw more attention from those who are watching.  Here it's presently no big deal, but in many places it would be considered blasphemous to join a group that says the gods this and the gods that and makes monotheism an invention of the Cylons.  All very touchy stuff, and quite a hurdle for them to leap.  Quite a risk for them.  The same would go for people in places like China or North Korea...They could potentially get into really BIG trouble if their leaders did not like their involvement in a Western club or social group like this.

Anyway, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Good Hunting!

John David Feagin

Dear Shawn;

Warmest greetings and best wishes!  This really is a great and fun club for all fans of all versions of Battlestar Galactica!  I've loved participating off and on for a good while now.  It's been a privilege and an honor!

I must however give fair warning.  For a while now I've been having serious technical issues with my computer, and now it is to the point that it will not even let me stay on the Internet for more than a few seconds. It is not likely I can resolve this situation any time soon. I've been using somebody else's computer to welcome new members of the club and to welcome them to the Battlestar Atlantia.  It is my intention to do so up to the end of the year, so nobody gets left out and so y'all don't suddenly have an inconvenient situation thrown into your lap.  Please be advised that after New Years I will not be able to post and greet on a regular basis.  I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this situation may bring about.

Once again, you have a great club, and it truly has been an honor to be involved.  I wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and in all ways pleasant New Year.

Sincerely,

John David Feagin

I have a neet idea. As memory serves, you edit and modify videos.  You might consider putting some of the usual cool battle scenes and destruction of the colonies footage to the tune "It's The End Of The World As We Know It" AND...posting it on Dec 21! Just a thought.  I don't know how to do that stuff.

I thank each of you, and will do my best.  I think in the future I will give a welcome to the fleet with a general overview of ways to participate, and leave the option open for replies if anyone is interested in joining Battlestars, getting suited up, or has questions about Galacticon 3.  As far as “airlocking” goes, I don’t feel too overly zealous about doing that sort of thing.  If anyone says something that is offensive or unkind, I’ll try to smooth it over and request civility and keeping it fun and enjoyable for everybody.  If I notice spam or if things continue to get out of hand, I’ll just bring it to your attention.  Mostly I’ll act as a Wal-Mart Greeter of sort for the Battlestar Fan Club, greeting and trying to help with any questions.

Also, I do have frequent problems with the computer here where I work, but the computer at home is reliable.  Much of my traffic may be confined to early mornings or later in the evening, but I’ll still check as frequently as possible.

Best regards.

Dear President O'Donnell;

To my understanding you have more personal access to producers, writers, actors, etc. from both versions of Battlestar Galactica.

I have a proposition/suggestion/request:

There are many Battlestar Galactica fans who are really into ship designs and the Sci-Fi technological aspect of Battlestar Galactica.  There are lots of technical manuals with ship designs for other similar Sci-Fi productions such as Star Wars and Star Trek.  It is a lucrative merchandising income for both, and their materials are protected by copyrights.  Anybody who has access to the producers of Battlestar Galactica, and I know some do, might encourage them to provide some good ship designs and technical manuals.  There is a decent market for this sort of thing, including fans, role players, Sci-Fi technogeeks, etc.  This would not only provide extra income for the producers, but would also advertise Battlestar Galactica, making it even more popular, and would assist in funding future productions.  This applies to both the original and re-imagined versions.

There are some very sparse speculation designs out there, but it would be much better to have a cannon version that is a bit more detailed and official and is supported by the writers and producers of the Battlestar Galactica genera.  The most popular/sought after designs include the original series Columbia class Battlestar Galactica, the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, Mercury class Battlestar Pegasus, and the Valkyrie class battlestars, as well as viper designs, raptor designs, etc., and possibly the Cylon Base Stars and Raiders from both versions.

Please pass on the request/suggestion, and encourage the production of official cannon technical manuals for Battlestar Galactica.  Some have personal relationships and access to the writers and producers, and any fans can make requests at Galacticon 3 and other conventions in person as well.

Other Sci-Fi franchises continue to receive a lucrative income from such merchandising, years and decades after the initial production of these movies, series, and spin-offs.

PART 3

Anyway, back to point…I was just trying to help set up a foundation and get other folks to thinking and talking.  I’m now hoping others will post lots and lots of stuff, and push my stuff off of the page, for both the Pyramid Project as well as the Engineering stuff.

As far as the religious stuff goes…I tried to keep it all sterile, objective, informative, without any bias.  Personally I am a sincere Christian who adheres to no specific denomination or division, and that is the most important aspect of my life.  I am not offended in studying other cultures, and I hope others will not be offended either.

Also…I have always tried to be very careful to remember to include the links to anything I copy and paste, so as to avoid any copyright controversy. I’m just researching and posting info, that’s all.

Best wishes, God bless, and good hunting.  So say we all…me, my self, and I.
