In 2001, a team of Microsoft workers had spent many hours creating the new Xbox. The team was stuck in Redmond, WA 15 minutes from Seattle all winter long. When spring finally arrived, they decided they needed a break from their busy schedule. Some members of the group were motorcycle riders. One Friday a dozen of them played hookey from the job and went riding together. There’s a lot of beautiful farmland and long rolling back roads along Puget Sound that’s close to Seattle. They took a 90 mile ride and ended up at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

After spending some time at the tulip fields, they rode to LaConner, Washington to have lunch. LaConner is a nice town located along the Swinomish Slough. They had lunch outside overlooking the water. It was a beautiful spot with lots of activity taking place on the water in front of them. A couple of seaplanes took off and fishing boats slowly made their way past as they ate their lunch that day. From Swinomish Slough they took the long way back on Rt 20 over Deception Pass which happens to be one of the most scenic spots in the Pacific Northwest. They had such a great time that they decided to do it the following year. The rest is history, each year the group grew with the original group inviting family and friends.

The ride had so many motorcycles; the Tulalip Tribal Police provided escort for the riders and closed intersections at many intersections on the route so large packs of riders could stay together.(1)

Here’s the part Battlestar Galactica fans will appreciate. The last few years, Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer have joined the ride which has drawn even more motorcycle riders to the event. It costs as little as $25 dollars to register for the event or you can pay as much as $500 dollars (10 Total). A couple special perks of the $500 pre-registration fee is a special Cast & Crew hosted dinner the night before the run with the Celebrities attending the event. Also the 10 $500 dollar level riders receive an 8.5 x 11 Acting Outlaws/Tulip Ride limited and numbered poster signed by Katee and Tricia.

  • Biker Babes! Really rev you up and get your motor runnin'! Starbuck has a jump on Number 6 though with the tattoos. I'll leave the jokes about pocket rockets alone.

Good hunting Biker Babes! So say we all!
