"There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive, somewhere beyond the heavens."

my bio

I have always been a sci-fi fan. Some of my earliest memories are of John Pertwee as Dr. Who, Star Blazers, and Star Trek reruns. I saw Star Wars in the theater when I was 7, and when BSG came on the air when I was 8 I was totally hooked. I loved everything: the ships (nothing better than Vipers and Battlestars), the characters, the moral teachings, the music ("Gotta Get to Heaven" from "War of the Gods, Part II" is one of my favorite pieces of music of all time), it all worked for me. And I have always wanted one of those cool suede Colonial Warrior jackets. I was devastated when it was cancelled. I watched Galactica 1980 during its first run, and while I enjoyed it, it certainly didn't recapture the same spirit as the original. Through the years Galactica remained one of my favorite franchises, even as I watched, and enjoyed, the various Star Trek iterations, Babylon 5, Firefly, and other sci-fi.

When the new BSG came out I was ecstatic, and I could barely wait for each week's new episode. I thoroughly enjoyed the new series as well, though it seems for almost opposite reasons. While the original BSG presented more clearly defined differences between good and evil, and larger moral issues, the new BSG focused more on day-to-day interpersonal drama, with characters who were less purely noble. The new show featured more shades of gray in its storytelling and character development. I find myself in love with both approaches; Classic Battlestar Galactica gave me heroes, taught me moral lessons, and presented ideals to strive for, while the Reimagined Battlestar Galactica gave me more philosophical questions and more interpersonal drama.

I've always been a bit of a loner, and my fandom has been fairly solitary. In the past few years I've started attending at least one Con a year (Arisia, in Boston, MA), with an occasional added con. This website is my first foray into a fan club of any sort. I'll try to learn as I go.

If you are interested, Clash Of Civilizations is a good e-book for Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek. It does have adult content though, so not for the kiddies. Good reading! So say we all! :o)  http://www.clashofcivilizations.co/

Hello Penelope, and WELCOME to the Battlestar Fan Club!  It's a great club, and we all hope you really enjoy it.  It's the most fun if everybody participates, so please post and boast on the forums and discussions, (and meet new friends who share a common interest) as well as check out all of the groups you can participate in. (Just look up at the top bar and pick Groups.  There are battlestars eager for you to sign up, as well as squadrons, you name it, even Pyramid and Cylon stuff!  Lots of the groups are into discussing certain topics, while others are into role playing, so just check it out and find what interests you the most.  Feel free also to start your OWN groups, topics, blogs, discussions, etc.  The more who participate the more fun it is for all.

Okay, again WELCOME to the Battlestar Fan Club. SO SAY WE ALL!!!!

Welcome aboard the Raven Penelope, it's great to have you join our crew! ! ! ! !

I see that your favorite BSG character is Starbuck. I am a fan of Old and New Galactica and my favorite character is Starbuck from both series.

If you’re interested in becoming a Viper pilot you couldn’t have come to a better place than the Battlestar Raven BFC-002

There is one Raptor and six Viper squadrons aboard the Battlestar Raven. You can check all of them out at this link:  http://battlestarfanclub.com/groups/group/listByLocation?location=Battlestar+Raven

At the present time Spartan, Perseus, Hammer, Minotaur and Blackstar squadrons are shorthanded and are looking for more pilots.

I am Lt Reamer leader of the Flying Tiger's squadron. I am always looking for a few more Viper pilots to join my group as well.

SO SAY WE ALL! ! ! ! !
