Hello Colonials,
Tonight with our Battlestar Galactica Hero award, we are also going to make a special dedication.
Firstly, in light of the tragedy that befell so many people this past Friday in Newtown CT...I thought best to wait a few days before making tonights presentation in respect.
I like so many others am proundfoundly shocked by what happened and mourn the loss of so many to needless, mindless violence.
I salute President Obama and the American people...actually people from all over the globe ....for the support they have lent to the families in grief and in need of support.
From all across the land...and from places far away...the flowers left by the Russians at the American embassy in Moscow to the the crosses set up in memory in Rio de Janeiro...these are people coming together and doing what they can to show that they do care and not all the world is a bad place, even though sometimes it seems that way.
It is important to say a prayer for the dead, but even now more important to say a prayer for the living.
Please all reflect on this and hold your family & your friends closer, keep them in your heart and mind...all the people on this earth of ours has someone who cares, make sure that someone knows it.
Battlestar's Atlantia, Titan & Raven are hereby ordered to run lights at 50% till Monday December 24th.
Of course my friends this Friday is December 21 2012...the "long awaited" day of the Mayan calendar...before all of you start running for the cellar or appointed safe area....I will assure you that the end of the world isn't coming...no zombie apocaclypse, no rogue planet striking our lovely globe and most assuredly the sun will NOT go nova nor will the poles flip.
We are...by Mayan reckoning at the end of 400 year cycle (as they calculated) and as a matter of fact this will mark the 13th cycle recorded by them...it is called the b'ak'tun...so hopefully you will all have a great b'ak'tun and don't drink yourselves silly in the process that night (even though you can sleep it off on Saturday!).
To the Hero award....we have honored many people over the course of the year so far...and every person has richly deserved the recognition....the next person most deservedly so....he began as a radio personality in Canada with a most distinctive voice...and made his way into Hollywood history.....known before Battlestar Galactica as the patriarch of the Cartwright Family on the Ponderosa....tonight Lorne Greene is the Hero of Battlestar Galactica and we dedicate the award to his memory!
