Howdy, yeah I just joined, got recruited at Galacticon a few weeks ago. I only found out about the fan club a few months ago otherwise I probably would have joined earlier. Is it true that the fanclub is based out of Texas or is that just Battlestar Raven? I'm a Texas local so that would be awesome if true! I've not decided what specialty in the fleet to join as yet though but i'll figure it out soon enough, as well as a uniform. I have one of the green bdu's but im hoping to get a new one soon. Thanks for the welcome.
Thank you forthe links to the uniforms. I'm really thinking about getting one for myself, and something for the wife. I had to miss houston due to the move into the new house. But I do plan on going to as many of the other that I can. Once again, thank you for the warm welcome
I am actually looking at a few places to see about a flight suit. Waiting to see if Anovos will get their production line going sometime during my life...lol
Hi, and thanks for the nice welcome, John. After years of Star Trek and Star Wars stuff, I really have grown to be more and more interested in Battlestar than ever before. It's such a good property, and is an untapped one at that. I love both series. I grew up watching the original, and was sad to see it go off the air. When I hear people going on and on about how Firefly was cancelled after 13 episodes, I feel their pain. There was huge dry spell after Galactica 1980. I got back into the series when the Maximum Press Battlestar Galactica comic came out in the nineties. I loved the miniseries, and followed the comics written by Richard Hatch. It was great to see the classic crew in action. Unfortunately, Battlestar didn't sit well with the casual comic book reader, and so it quickly went away. Jump to the re-imagined BSG. I didn't watch it. I actually didn't watch it until I bought my now-useless HD-DVD copy of season one. I immediately loved it, and ended up watching the miniseries and the first few episodes in one sitting. I got my girlfriend hooked on it, too. Actually, it was my best friend since high school that told me to watch it. Anyway, I got engrossed in the new show so much that I bought the other seasons as they became available on DVD (I have the Blueray versions arriving today in the mail). I won't lie when I say that I love it more than the classic show. Then again, they're different, and were written for two different audiences so I should really love them equally. Then came Caprica (also coming in the mail). I only watched the first couple of episodes presented as a movie, then didn't watch the series after that. I just watched my Blueray of Blood and Chrome. It wasn't bad. I wish they'd make a series out of it, though. Last night, I watched Saga of a Star World with my uncle who always watched the show with me 35 years ago. He actually saw Saga of a Star World in Germany in a movie theater back when it came out (He was visiting family). I went to Galacticon 3. I am so happy that I bought my silver pass. Meeting the casts was great. I managed to get over have the cast(s) to sign my Galacticon 3 poster, and I took pics with some of them. I even got a dinner invite from Jack Stauffer, and have been friended on Facebook by him. He actually remembered me, and some of what we talked about. EJO was my favorite to meet. He and I talked for about 20 minutes on Friday about my decision to become a teacher. Michael Hogan was extremely friendly. Kate, Michael Trucco, Mary, and the others could not have been more down to Earth. Very, very nice, warm people. The classic cast was great as well. Dirk and Anne were my favorites from the series, and they basically fulfilled a boyhood dream of meeting them. Richard, Herbert, and Jack lived up to their reps as nice guys. The classic cast, like the new one, were genuinely interested in what I had to say, and they seemed to ask me more questions about me than me of them. Lol. I hope the next Galacticon doesn't take so long to happen. Until then, I will need to make a uniform. Now, is the club dedicated to the new, or classic lineup in terms of attire? Are there clubs within the club that dedicate themselves to one series, or the other? I'll make the effort to at least meet up for events, and take it from there.
Regards,
Jason Lee "White Chocolate" Nedbalek
That's one of my nicknames, but not my callsign. Gambit has been taken. That's the name I always use as my callsign in flight simulators like the Galactica inspired Wing Commander. I might go with Mustang, or something.
Thanks John, you're always a great source of information. I already have friended a couple friends Of Keith "Leonidas" Ranson on FB and their modeling skills are amazing.
Hi. How it's going on with you, my friend ? I'm happy to return on this site. I was here before, some times ago and I'm back now. Some of my BSG ship stayed here to protect this place, although I left for a while :-)
Thanks! I finally have the time to sit and reply. I'm having fun with finally joining in with battlestar things. I've loved the original show since I first saw it at age 9. I look forward to really getting into the forums and posting. I am currently putting together a colonial warrior uniform from the original series, and BSG.org is who I am ordering mine from. I do like Blood and Chrome, so I may do something from that movie. And soon I am going to work on my son's Boxey costume too ( already have his dagget.) I wish I could go to Galacticon 3, but this year is not a good year for me traveling wise. Will see ya around the forums!
