"LEADING THE BSG UNIVERSE"

As the 11Th Fleet Liaison, I am very interested to know more about the Valkyrie Class Battlestar, because the Battlestar Excalibur, the battlestar of the Canadian Chapter of CDF, is about to be relaunched, and this is indeed a Valkyrie Class ship.
I know this battlestar according to Battlestar wiki has about 700 mts of lenght, wich is comparable to the lenght of the flight pod of a Columbia Class battlestar like Galactica.
Harfang,
Here is what I know regarding the Valkyrie Class battlestar statistically they are more designed in the nature of a Cruiser than say a Mercury class which acts like a Modern Super Carrier. All info leads to them being used in situations where a larger battlestar in impractical or overkill, they appear to be more agile and use missiles more than guns. Fighter operations would need to be more a planned operation than a reaction due to the limited launch capability. But like any Colonial craft they wear massive armor and are armed to the teeth, just a smaller set of teeth.
Valkyrie-class Light Battlestar
DIMENSIONS: Length: 2680’, Beam: 1019’, Draught: 426’, Decks: 17, Crew: 919, Passengers: up to 1000
ARMAMENT:Heavy Skirmish-Range Point Defense System [250 Guns],
14 Capital Range Heavy Railgun Batteries which can also fire Short-DRADIS Heavy Railgun-Fired Missiles
AUXILIARY CRAFT: 50 Vipers, 8 Raptors, 6 Shuttles
*** The Valkyrie was designed for the primarily modern mission of the Colonial Fleet — piracy and criminal interdiction, and deep-space early warning missions…not Cylon fighting. She only has six launch tubes under her landing bays and either must launch a flight at a time, or launch her other fighters from the launch bays, which takes an extra time to get her fighters into the fray.
I did the Meteric Conversion for you:
Length 816.86m
Beam: 310.59m
Draught: 129.84m
Well all that you say about this ship make sense. I like this idea of the launch tubes on the front, but as you say this is not for a rapid launch vipers like a Columbia or Mercuray Class battlestar. But as It has a launch capability It is indeed a battlestar. Where did you find out those informations about the launch tube on the front. When I say screen shot of the pods of the Valkyrie, I don't see the exits of the tubes, I was wondering if It could be under the pods.
About the length of the ship there is a big debate about that, the 800 meters you mentionned is almost the same than the official statement of Battlestar Wiki, nevertheless, there is also valuable opinions that It would be more around 1 200 or 1 300 meters, not much less than the Galactica.
Personnally, I believe the Valkyrie class could have around 1 200 meters of length as this image, but there is a lack of informations about the specifications of this battlestar.
Here I let some insteresting links of the Battlestar Wiki :

If you look at the front on image on this site you will see the 3 Launche tubes each POD.
Also if you take the tube size and compare that to Pegasus or Galactica screen caps it supports the 800m length, also dong a size compairison based on the approximate main gun size it also suppoerts the 800m length.Given the 1200m length size estimate Valkyrie's main guns would be approximalty 75% larger than Galactica or Pegasus which use the same size main cannons. Note also Peagaus' cannons also have what appears to be a 4 missile box launcher to the right of the control room. This also fits the footage were Valkyrie launches a missle from a main gun to destroy the Stealth Star.

Also check out this site, about half way down are two screen shots one is Val coming at you with the launch tubes clearly visible, right uner that is a pic of the side to Pegasus' Pod with the same relative shaped tubes visible. I feel this gives a very clear indication of the size of Val and for hat matter all battlestars given we know the shape and size of the launch tubes is a constant for the Fleet.

I found an odd about the Valkyrie Class battlestar. In B&C Valkyrie is mentionned amongs the ships of the Ghost Fleet, and we can see 2 battlestars of this class in the screen shot... I thought the Valkyrie Battlestar was a modern ship of the same generation than Pegasus... Valkyrie would be as old as Galactica??? This makes me pretty confused...

Thoughts Matt?
Your informations helped me a lot to build a post to present our virtual Battlestar of the Canadian Chapter, thank you very much. And you convinced me about the 700-800 meters lenght. So did you with your theories about the Valkyrie of Blood and Chrome.
