  There is another tactical possibility to be considered with X Wings and Vipers alike. That would be doing as the Cylons do, with their air wings docked on the hull of the mother ship. For the Cylons, this is perfect, but for humans it sort of DEPENDS on how soon action is expected...If the pilots are out there too long, they will need to wear DEPENDS, as the minutes fade into hours, and bodily functions refuse to subside. Ewwwwww-EWWWW!

  Anyway, much better to launch swarms of vipers simultaneously through launch tubes. They can also protect the X Wings as they slowly make their way out of the hangar.

  May the Farce be with you! It should be a great movie. So say we ALL!

  Tactical Note:

  X Wings are great for their FTL capabilities, escorting shuttles and raptors, as well as doing recon and hit and run missions, but Vipers are still an essential superiority fighter best adapted for interceptor and attack roles. The sheer volume of vipers launched simultaneously through launch tubes makes them a much better quick response fighter, since the X-Wings are much too wide and bulky to be launched in tubes. They should be pre-deployed when ever possible so as to avoid being picked off one at a time upon launching from their docking bays.
