Thanks for all of the info. I wish I could go to Galacticon 3, but I don't think that it could happen. I am interested in obtaining my own Viper pilot flight suit & props from the new series. I'm also interested in learning about the ships, etc.
Yes, I'll be at Galacticon and will actually be working the con! :)
Thanks for the links. There's some great info there!
I look forward to seeing you at the con.
Thanks alot for the welcome. thanks for the info and resources, I have been looking into making my own Flight Suit with a season 1 or 2 helmet. And would love to build a viper mk 7 sim at one point.
I hear you on disposable $$$$. Our con is in Charlotte right after Galacticon. I realize most folks would attend Galacticon over us but if there are folks in the area I'd love to offer them a pre-reg discount.
I stumbled across you all when I saw my friend had added your FB page. I've got a 3 day convention coming up May 31-June2. I know a lot of folks will have just gone to Galacticon (which sounds great!).
I can offer a group rate to anyone who wants to attend.
John David--great post, thanks so much for all the information! I will look around the site and learn as much as I can--I love the seies and feel very much at home here.
Thank you, John, for the pleasant welcome. I'm looking forward to settling in (or should i say "re-settling"). I was a member of the original incarnation of the BFC back in 2003, and from what I can see, this place has changed quite a bit from what I remember. i would sincerely appreciate and and all advice you or any other staff members can give me re: this site.
I will be happy to recruit for Atlantia, I am not exactly sure how to go about it but I will try. I will keep an eye out for new persons and give them Happy Welcome message. Also I planned to start posting more in the Engineering section of Atlantia Tech Data I have found. Also I read your post about a Tech Manual for our users and had an idea, how about and On-Line manual with Specks and Blue-Prints for Atlantia and by proxy other Ships in the same class. I am not really sure whre to post this data, it's some of what I sent you but some other stuff also. I want our RPers to have a true sense of being apart of a ship and I think having some tangibles will give them that.
Also was going to get with Shooter and work out some things regarding Vipers and things they user also.
I really think we could have a MASSIVE RP experience with very little effort on our part..
That is so incredibly kind of you! Thank you!! My Mother, Tara my dog, and I fared well. Scary sounds but overall, not a terrible experience. Thanks for checking on us!!

I have vbeen doing a ton of research on FTL vs Warp and Hyperspace and I have found in cannon sources that FTL is limited by the Red line which is not a distance limit on the Jump itself but more a limit on variables in the information regarding space itself. Techncally if the info was good a battlestar could jump totally across the Galaxy, but the variables get so extreme that it would be certain deatht o try. The Red Line refers to a known and mapped space where it Jumps are safe. !st thing I think everyone forgets is the FTL is a Space Fold so there would be no travel time like warp or hyper space, so yes much more a hit and run type tactic is dicated. The FTL Sync does use a Bubble principle that is the reason why old school Battlestars had to retract the pods to keep them inside the bubble, where a Pegasus type with a newer FLT system does not.
One of thing I feel is a key difference is designed purpose. Trek Ships are built for explorations 1st and combat 2nd they tend to be multi-role and rely heavily on shields and speed for protection. They use very intigrated computers that are centered on info storage and processing power. They are very energy inefficient and seem to use alot of power for creature comforts, yes even the Klingons...LOL
Battlestars are Purpose built for war, DRADIS gives good info regarding tactical data. They are very redunant and have HUGE amounts of armor. Computer systems tend to be very independant and hardened vs attacks. They base all thier Tech on Gravity generation even the Main Guns are Gravity based Rail Guns. Also think about this, never during the show did you ever see Galactica miss not one time, ever. Every single shot hit determined to me that the Colonial Targeting computers are much more acurate which agains points to a more combat concept. So a 5ton projectile moving at 22x the speed of sound hitting sheild then exploding would reak havok on shields. Federation Hulls are tissue paper compaired to Battlestar hulls.

Thanks for the tip, John.
And all it takes to make a fan film is an idea, a script, a camera and a bunch of people who want to help. Go for it!

Hi John!
Thanks for the welcome & the info. It's great to be here.
Do you know any BSG cosplayers in the Los Angeles area? I'm shooting a short film and really want to see the fleet represented.
Thanks,
Geoff
