That's an excellent theory, certainly better than what was ever offered in the show, which was nothing. Three Cylons minds linked together would provide superior performance, which is a plausible explanation as to why they would do it.

Yeah, later I thought it had to do with the Triune brain model. Each cylon was actually linked through the fighter to form a more complex brain/unit to fight human pilots. Like the whole Reptilian/Paleomammalian/Neomammalian complex of the human brain but replicated by the machines to have a more level playing field. Basically taking drones and making them equal to humans... just for fighter combat. Haha that was my silly pet theory during the early 90s. I did something with it in a short story.

Its funny because as kids, we would all ask why does it take 3 Centurions to fly the Raider and only one to fly the Viper? While watching one of the interviews with Boomer/Starbuck/Apollo, they used to wonder the same thing. It is a cool looking fighter.

I do as well, this to me is a Cylon.. The re-imaged ones remind me a bit to much like Kilrathi fighters from the Wing Commander video games. I did enjoy the more classic Cylon fighters from the 'Razor' special though.
