For those who might not follow on Facebook, I recently decided to build another Galactica re-imagined style ship. I was originally looking at armor plating it. I was doing my research, and from what I had found, the class ship that Galactica (Columbia?)is, appears as she is intended to be. Armor plate in all the right places and thick skin as we saw time and again on her voyage to Earth. Her class depended on her Vipers, gun emplacements, missiles, and support ships for protection. Very similar to Modern day aircraft carriers. I want to make sure this is correct before I start the next one which is on the way. Can anyone confirm with canon information or provide an official source?
Anyway, I wound up getting sidetracked from the armor plating during the pre-fit of the parts. I was messing around with the flight pods and then it hit. "Why not build her jump ready?" So that's what I did. It took some trimming of the pockets where the pods slide in...in retrospect, I should have omitted the pockets all together, and some sanding of the pods themselves. There is an ever so minute difference in the hull fitment with the pods in as I did it, but it still looks great and like I said it is barely noticeable. I am now working on the Aztec decals and weathering. I will post pics soon.
