How Did The Humans And Cylons Evolve After Earth?

After the Battlestar Galactica series ended, we were left with one perplexing question.  The humans and “skin jobs” were left here on what is now known as Earth, to evolve on our own.  The Cylons were allowed to go and evolve on their own.  It’s not like there was much choice in the matter, because the Galactica’s back was broken and the Cylons still had functional base stars.  The humans and skin jobs scattered all over the planet to develop on their own, in hopes that this would increase their chances for survival.  There have been many near extinction events over the eons, ice ages, floods, pole shifts, etc.  Very little is known of many of the ancient civilizations that were destroyed, while others such as the Mayans and Egyptians are studied with great interest.  Other lost civilizations remain buried below the oceans of this planet. We do have some historical and religious texts to explain our past to us.  During all of this time though, what happened to the Cylons that went their own way?  What motivated them, and what did they seek to do?  We know a few things.  They were very interested in genetic engineering, thus they developed the skin jobs and hi-breads.  After experiencing the human situation, they also suffered from their own civil war which nearly destroyed their civilization.  We know that at least one of their most diabolical leaders stated that he did not want to be human, he wanted to experience the universe.  We know that initially, the Centurions were kept from being self aware enough to rebel, lest they also rise up against their skin job masters.  We know that as the skin jobs lived and experienced human lives they developed all of the undesirable traits we humans possess…basically narcissistic self will.  So, what did they do?

Here is my speculation:  They wondered through the galaxy, encountering habitable planets, and genetically engineering humanoids that could inhabit each one.  They were similar but different, depending on the planet they would inhabit.  They were given the best traits for survival, and left to evolve on their own as the humans and Cylons were.  In one solar system, aggressive and tough Klingons may have been created.  In an other area, Vulcans were created which also split off into their own factions on Romulus and Remulus.  In an other area, Cardassians.  In an other solar system, Betazoids.  In yet an other solar system, Ferengi. Countless worlds and civilizations were created and left to evolve on their own.  Some were successful, others were failures, and others still were somewhat successful, but with unintended results. But what of the Cylons?  Over the eons, they would surely become more and more self aware and self willed.  More disputes and possible wars would erupt.  The Centurions would be left in the middle confused and after a time angry at being cannon fodder for the selfish skin jobs’ petty squabbles. They would start to push back.  This would frighten the skin jobs, and for good reason…They knew their own history all too well and did not want to repeat the folly of their original human creators.  Even the hi-breads would have become more self aware and self willed, jumping the ships at will, regardless of what they were told to do.  Finally, there was but one solution.  Cylons always were comfortable with discussing honestly and deciding what to do.  It was time for an ultimate meeting of the minds.  They would combine all of their minds permanently into a universal consciousness...skin jobs, Centurions, and even the hi-breads.  All would contribute their own mental abilities and fairly decide what the best courses of action were.  Sadly, this experiment also had unintended consequences, and they suffered a fate worse than death.  They evolved into a species of techno-zombies with amazing high technology, called the BORG.  They believed that their solution was indeed the very best one, and began to search the universe for other civilizations that they created eons ago, and assimilate them.

Resistance is NOT futile! Surrender to the collective is a fate far worse than death.  By now, the radiation on the original colonies will have subsided, and they can again be inhabited. The Colonial Alliance lives on.  All of this has happened before, and will happen again…and again…and again…and again…
