He's probably one of the few Actors in Hollywood who not only appeared with a Robot on screen, but also as one. He was the best!
Agreed. Jonathan Harris was perfect for the voice of Lucifer. He spoke in a more toned down mellow voice than Dr. Smith, but it worked.I imagined Baltar calling him a "bubble headed booby" and Lucifer walking away saying "Oh the pain, the pain" :)
The choice of the voice of Lucifer was another big win; Jonathan Harris. People mostly remember his contributions to the TV series "Lost in Space" from the Irwin Allen era. When we all were in school the next day we would all be asking each other "didn't Lucifer sound just like Dr. Smith?" Jonathan's voice just seemed to be dripping with sarcasm, making for some of the best scenes in the original series.
The "lizard pet" was only seen in a few scenes from afar..the pet trainer that supplied the horned chameleon with fake wings was never paid for it's use, and took it away from any further scenes.
It was fun to see Lucifer and Baltar exchange sarcasm...liked the line when Lucifer was assigned as Baltar's "number 1" he says walking away about Baltar : "Isn't he deliciously devious.."
I had never noticed his pet; I remember someone in school mentioning it, but we had all thought it was one of those urban legends like "Mikey" being done in by too many bags of pop rocks and soda.
I used to get a kick out the bantering back and forth between Baltar and Lucifer, which added to the enjoyment of the scenes they were in.
Up close picture, Michael.
That's a great point; I didn't know if it was a prop or an actor when I first saw him on TV, and I couldn't really get a good look at him on TV either. Having him perched way up in the air on a tall thrown, along with the ominous music, added to the characters "dread factor". I never had a good idea of what he really looked like up close until I was given the action figure, which really made my head spin.
