Basic Info For Colonial Marines:

You can get really expensive stuff, but they used standard military surplus uniforms, mixed and matched. Most uniforms have shoulder pads that are slightly darker than the other fabric. You could get away with most any body armor, because several types were used. If nothing else, you might know somebody who is a seamstress, and they could easily rig up some fake body armor with rectangular plates of metal, wood, etc. sewn into it like a brigandine from the Dark Ages. I’ve seen at least one of these types of body armor.
This is what you’re probably “shooting for.”

I really hope this is helpful. Also, if you’re thinking of the movie you may make, remember that if it takes place during the New Caprica occupation, ANYTHING will work because even the Colonial Marines were basically resistance fighters. Practical and tactical!
Anyway, you can get some patches…and I believe some are available with the BSG Fan Club as well, and just sew or have them sewn on any type of BDU’s you prefer, probably black, etc. You can get'em on line or at an Army Navy store.
Good hunting my friend!

These folks are really “HIGH END,” but they seem to have lots of good stuff, including patches and authentic uniforms, as well as pins for rank insignia, etc.:

For any interested, here is a source for lots of tactical gear for the Colonial Marines, as well as regular tactical gear needs.
Just in case anybody is looking for military gear for uniforms, this is a good source.
Question here for those that make their own uniforms. I can't really afford to buy a uniform from anyone, and I can't really do a full on classic warrior uniform on my own, but I do want to try and emulate one of the jackets at least with the skills that I do have. Does anyone here have a link to where I could purchase a pattern for one of the classic jackets? I would be looking for a plus-size pattern. If not, I'll just have to try my best by using a jacket I already have for a base and try to match up details as best I can from pictures. Thank you in advance to any information anyone can provide! :)
I know it's been awhile, but does anyone know of a good place to get teh Marine NCO Uniform. Should be the tan on brown look...
Yes. I have never gotten anything from Shadowdale Creations but they seem to be very reputable and make really good stuff. If I can scrape up the extra cubits, I hope to get some of their uniforms! Much better quality than some of the other sources that import them. Not enough time though for Galacticon III.
Good Hunting and hope to see everybody there suited up in full battle rattle ready to toast some toasters! So say we all!

If anyone would like info on how to make your own Green BDU uniform we could put up a tutorial here as well.
Is there any interest?
Kreios.
