"There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive, somewhere beyond the heavens."

If you are interested, Clash Of Civilizations is a good cross over e-book for Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek. It does have adult content though, so not for the kiddies. Good reading! So say we all! :o)  http://www.clashofcivilizations.co/

Just a friendly reminder.  I previously mentioned to some of you that the computers are all fried at my place of employment, and I have been using a family computer to do all welcoming and posting on the Battlestar Galactica Fan Club site during the Christmas and New Year holidays.  This will not be the case when the holidays are over, so after New Year, I will not be able to welcome, greet, and support new members of the Battlestar Galactica Fan Club or the Battlestar Atlantia, at least not in a timely and consistent fashion.  We do not want for anybody to be or feel left out or slighted, so please respond accordingly.

It's a great club, and I'll try to visit and check it out when I can, but my timely and consistent participation can not be guaranteed as of New Years.

Greetings Admiral Thacker!

I hope all is going as well as possible for you, considering your real world duties.  I have recently been assigned the Battlestar Fan Club's equivalent position to Wal-Mart Greeter, welcoming new members and helping them get settled in.  I have to be fair and not promote one Battlestar or Group over the others, but do intend to mention the Atlantia along with the Raven and Titan as great places to enlist.  Anyway, as you know, the Raven's very active in recruiting, so it may be needful to have a member of the Atlantia who can do the job, to act as a recruiting officer.  All they would need to do is check the members list and copy and paste a warm invite to all of the newbies.

Anyway, the Battlestar Atlantia really does seem to need more active recruits who will post frequently, or zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...  The best way to do that would be to get new recruits and get'em excited and involved.

I've mentioned this to Matt as well.

Anyway, best wishes, and hopefully all is going well for you, considering.

Greetings Admiral Thacker!

First of all, I do sincerely hope you really did have a great Birthday…in the REAL world!

Also, not to worry, I’m still with you.  Not getting a divorce from the Atlantia or anything like that.  I could tell that Mr. Gedeon was really gung ho with the role playing thing, and I didn’t want to stand in his way.  My initial contributions to the Atlantia were to set-up some good info for any interested in the Engineering section and do what I could or knew how to do in getting her out of dry dock.  Anyway, I’m not too much into role playing or video games, like the fighter jocks, so I don’t want to stand in anybody’s way, rain on anybody’s parade, or steal anybody’s thunder, etc.  I do intend to “keep tabs” on what’s going on though, and be a floater, depending on what needs to be done.  I’ll also try to watch for new recruits too, so the Atlantia’s crew remains above the dry dock cut off mark, and hopefully get some more posters and boasters for more interesting conversation.  (Ahem…We’ll ALL have to do this though…Raven seems quite adept at snatching up new recruits though they have an ample surplus of extras…greeeeedy!  :o)

Oh, speaking of…You might consider finding somebody who is good at this sort of thing and make them a designated “Recruiting Officer.”  They could invite and guide new recruits and assist them in joining up, and of course be in charge of welcoming them and helping them settle in where they feel most comfortable.  (Not me though, like I said, I’ll be a floater behind the scenes and assist as well as I can, but nothing official.)

Anyway, again Happy B-Day!  Also best wishes with your Army situation in the “Real World.”  I only wish I could have joined the Army or Guard years ago, but my screwed up ACL in my left knee DQ’d me.  I tried several times, but sadly, got the Charlie Brown treatment.

Best wishes, warmest regards, and have a great day!  So say we all-me, my self, and I…oh, and the voices in my head too! They all say Hi!  (Just kidding-Not going for a section 8 or anything like that).

Attn: Admiral Thacker;

I have received notice that I will be taking on duties related to manufacturing and producing various new weapon systems, craft, and platforms that are of a sensitive nature.  As such, my presence aboard the Battlestar Atlantia will be greatly diminished.  Subsequently, I would like to suggest that Mr. Matt Gedeon be promoted to the position of Chief Engineer.  He has shown great interest, enthusiasm, and capability while working with the FTL systems, and seems to have a very good grasp of other duties related to what is required as a Chief Engineer.  I am certain that he will not disappoint, and the Battlestar Atlantia will be in good and capable hands.  Also, please don’t challenge him to any boxing matches and beat the snot out of him until he has settled in and truly does know all of his duties well.

While away, I will keep tabs on what is going on, and I will enthusiastically refer new recruits to the Atlantia when I encounter them.  I do believe, however it is time for some new blood in Engineering, and Mr. Gedeon is very young, motivated, professional, and enthusiastic.  I can not think of a more qualified individual to whom I may wish to pass the baton.

I wish good hunting to all!

Special Communiqué to Admiral Thacker:

Please advise Security to NOT allow Engineer Geordi La Forge to tour the Battlestar Atlantia again.  In fact, please deny access all together!  He reversed the polarity on everything he came across, and it took me nearly an hour to re-route everything to proper specs.  I have triple checked everything that I am aware of that he tinkered with, but have ordered all available personnel in the Engineering Department to run multiple sweeps on everything to be sure.  Be assured, Sir, all systems related to the FTL ARE up and running, and ready to go.

Feagin out.
