"There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive, somewhere beyond the heavens."

Very interesting Family history Ens. Jacobite. You're a born warrior and the Raven can always use a Viper pilot such as yourself. The Cylons are in for a proper thrashing!!!

I recommend that you take the Raptor exam. It has many similar questions as the Viper exam and its a pass/fail exam and no one has ever failed that I'm aware of. Not to mention, you'll be able to pilot any small craft as did Cdr Adama.

Good Hunting Jacobite!!!

Thanks for the comment Ens Jacobite. My call sign was given to me by a friend of my brothers many years ago. He thought it would bother me, but it stuck like glue and I didn't mind it a bit.

I take it you're either a history fan or a fan of Star's original show Highlander. I have some English in me but I don't know if I have any Scotch, but I'm a huge fan of Highlander. This season didn't start the way I thought, but I'm sure it will get interesting.

Hello Ensign Persianni,

Before i start i must say you have a cool last name.  First welcome the Battlestar Fan Club Fleet great to you have here.  Your examinations have been graded and will be heading back to you by the time you have read this.  Sub communications can be a bit touchy, but you will get it for sure.  Thank you for submitting the examinations you will find attachments when you check your email.

As for Call Sign it is actually up to you to choose a name as long as it is in good taste and not poor judgement.  Traditionally in real life military aviation normally your squadron mate choose your name.  This is done by a simple process based on your character traits, bad habits you may have,  If you like pranks or be pranked on the list is endless to be honest.  Basically it all comes down on often you commit said actions.  Someone will call you a nickname and if it sticks that's your call sign. Unless someone else comes up with something better and catchy.  Just thought i share that with you b/c during my career i have had 7 Call Signs at different places.  All good and fun be safe and take care.    ~Salutes~

Your call sign is something that is normally given to you but, here on the Raven we want you to be proud of and like your call sign so its is up to you to choose your call sign. This will help to keep any ill will or anything. Also your call sign must be appropriate or you will be instructed  to select another.

It is really that simple. Once you have your tests scores back feel free to look at all the options and join a squadron  that you think fits you.

Good Luck, welcome once again and if you have any other question don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome aboard The Raven, Erika! I hope you'll take some time to familiarize yourself with the site...whether it be discussions or taking a more active role, there is something for everyone! I see your interest is becoming a Viper Pilot. The Raven Air Wing has six Viper squadrons and one Raptor squadron, all of which are in need of quality pilots behind the stick. You'll want to first choose a callsign (please keep it clean!). Next, you'll want to choose the bird you want to fly, Viper or Raptor. Viper is the popular choice and we do need Viper pilots! Take into consideration as well that the Air Wing's Raptor Squadron, The Seekers, are one of the most visible and active groups within the club. But that is what makes it all fun, because the choice is up to you! Next, you'll want to select a squadron to join. We're trying to fill out the active ranks with some squadrons, but any choice is fine! Now comes the qualifications. Although not absolutely necessary to fly, it is nice to be certified and will definitely look good on your record. There is the Colonial Defense Force (CDF) test, which is simply basic knowledge of the CDF and it's standard operating procedures. Then there is the Viper and Raptor qualifications. Pass Viper qualification with a 100% score and you'll earn the prestigious Top Gun status. Raptor qualification is passed with a 75% score. Here are the links to the manual and tests:

They are in PDF format, so you will have to download them. The links also describe how to format your answers and the email to send off to Admiral Rivera for scoring. Note: send your answers to both emails to insure the Admiral receives them. VERY IMPORTANT: When you send your scores, be sure to advise the Admiral which state (or country) you reside. Also advise which craft you wish to fly, Viper or Raptor. This information is used to determine your tail number. Here is the link to the Admiral's email addresses:

After you receive your scores, we will certify them by issuing you a nameplate and then you will become a steely-eyed pilot in the fleet's finest, The Raven Air Wing! But remember, at the end of the day, it's all about having fun. And also, you get out of the club what you put in! I am Cpt. Michael "Mik Mo" Morelock, Commander Air Group of the Raven Air Wing and Seekers Squadron commander. If you have any further, questions, please feel free to ask!

On each squadron page you will find the link to the Viper training manual. You can also go to the battlestarraven-bfc-002 website for more information. If you have any questions please ask. Happy landings!
