"There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive, somewhere beyond the heavens."

"Lol, no worries Barry. I thought I would put out feelers as far as I could. I THOUGHT at one point that the source I remembered was the Viper training manual from this group, but I looked at the manual and I was mistaken. Still trying to remember it."

Need a little help from the crowd. Im trying to help a friend who is building a full scale mockup of a Viper MKII (Guys name is Baz Am; you can find him on facebook).  He is currrently working on the intake fans, and is having issues with why they don't appear to be able to spin. Here is the issue I am having. I seem to recall reading somewhere (and the source is what I need to find...and am unable to remember it) that they are not fans, but louvres, and are oriented like a fan so that when they…See More

The Raven is, in some aspects, a not entirely canon ship/chapter. We have Classic and RIM elements. We have a Cylon contingent. We have a Chaplain/Historian. We have a model of the Beast (aka the Raven) and it is a highly modified Mercury Class Battlestar. It seems you say you had issues with starting a new BSG chapter of some kind. The Raven Leadership brings members up through the ranks, and increases responsibility slowly. It might be worthwhile to consider starting in an established chapter/Ship or Group and learn our process. If you are trying to go straight to Leadership, I wish you well. The last chapter of only Nuggets hasn't been very active. Aeneas is a good example of a Leader that earned his status over a period of time. He is a valuable source for you. Regards, Iceworm

Why you should feel disheartened I don't know,  Shannon. If there is a problem I can help you with,  please ask.

Welcome aboard! I am Hitman. I am the leader of the Flying Tigers Viper squadron. The Raven is a great place, there are a lot of very good people here. I hope you have fun here and if you are looking to join as a Viper pilot I would love to have you. The Flying Tigers are the Elite Viper squadron in the fleet. We have the most Top gun Pilots on the Raven as well. What you put into here on the Raven and the community is what you will get out of it. So enjoy and have fun. I look forward to recycling some toasters with you in the future.

Welcome aboard The Raven, Shannon! I hope you'll take some time to familiarize yourself with the site...whether it be discussions or taking a more active role, there is something for everyone! I see your interest is in Command. In my opinion, one of the best tracks to command level positions is beginning as a pilot. If you choose that road, The Raven Air Wing has six Viper squadrons and one Raptor squadron, all of which are in need of quality pilots behind the stick. You'll want to first choose a callsign (please keep it clean!). Next, you'll want to choose the bird you want to fly, Viper or Raptor. Viper is the popular choice and we do need Viper pilots! Take into consideration as well that the Air Wing's Raptor Squadron, The Seekers, are one of the most visible and active groups within the club. But that is what makes it all fun, because the choice is up to you! Next, you'll want to select a squadron to join. We're trying to fill out the active ranks with some squadrons, but any choice is fine! Now comes the qualifications. Although not absolutely necessary to fly, it is nice to be certified and will definitely look good on your record. There is the Colonial Defense Force (CDF) test, which is simply basic knowledge of the CDF and it's standard operating procedures. Then there is the Viper and Raptor qualifications. Pass Viper qualification with a 100% score and you'll earn the prestigious Top Gun status. Raptor qualification is passed with a 75% score. Here are the links to the manual and tests:

They are in PDF format, so you will have to download them. The links also describe how to format your answers and the email to send off to Admiral Rivera for scoring. Note: send your answers to both emails to insure the Admiral receives them. VERY IMPORTANT: When you send your scores, be sure to advise the Admiral which state (or country) you reside. Also advise which craft you wish to fly, Viper or Raptor. This information is used to determine your tail number. Here is the link to the Admiral's email addresses:

After you receive your scores, we will certify them by issuing you a nameplate and then you will become a steely-eyed pilot in the fleet's finest, The Raven Air Wing! But remember, at the end of the day, it's all about having fun. And also, you get out of the club what you put in! I am Lt. Michael "Mik Mo" Morelock, Commander Air Group of the Raven Air Wing and Seekers Squadron commander. If you have any further, questions, please feel free to ask!

Welcome aboard the Raven Shannon. I am Freya the Ravens Operations officer and one of the assistant squadron leaders for the Raven's only Raptor Squadron The Seekers. Take the time to get to know the site. I see you are interested in Command. There are many things you can do aboard the ship. The first order of business is to have fun. If you have any questions please let me know. Good Hunting!

Welcome to the Battlestar Raven and the BFC, Shannon.  I am Aeneas, squadron leader of Perseus, a Viper squadron. I see you wish to be a Command officer, many Commanders started as pilots. Raven Actual herself started as a Viper pilot and if you decide to go that way,  my squadron will welcome you with open arms. Whichever route you decide upon,  don't forget to join the Raven group first, look in the groups section. Again welcome aboard and if I can be of any further assistance,  please ask.

Aeneas, Perseus (611th FS)
