NOTE: **THE WEBSITE WILL GO THROUGH SOME CHANGES FOR THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CLUB ORGANIZATION - JULY 1, 2025**
Raven Marine OIC- Brigadier Gen. Eduardo "Enforcer"
Raven Marine NCOIC- Master Gunnery Sergeat- Paul "Iceworm" Oakley
What is it like to be a Marine aboard the Raven you ask? I believe the General Orders that all new Marine Recruits have to know and memorize will tell it all.
-To take charge of this post and all BFC property in view
-To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.
-To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.
-To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guardhouse than my own. IE: in the event of a COMM breakdown, all orders must be yelled or verbally given to the next sentry no matter the distance from the next post and so on...until the entire unit knows the same order issued.
-To quit my post only when properly relieved.
-To receive, obey and pass on to the sentry who relieves me all orders from the Executive Officer, Detachment commander, and officers, both commissioned and non-commissioned, of the guard only.
-To talk to no one except in the line of duty.
-To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.
-To call the MarDet Commander or the XO in any case not covered by instructions.
-To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased.
-To be especially watchful at all times, especially wartime, and to challenge all persons on or near my post and to allow no one to pass without proper authority.

YOU JUST MIGHT BE A COLONIAL MARINE IF......
If your idea of a fashion statement is combat boots, basic black and a bad attitude,
………….you just might be a Colonial Marine.
If you think negotiating with killer toasters involves cold steel, hot lead and C4,
………….you just might be a Colonial Marine.
If your home is a small bunk on a fast ship going in harm’s way,
………….you just might be a Colonial Marine.
If your office is any piece of deck or alien dirt that the Fleet tells you to take and hold,
………….you just might be a Colonial Marine.
If your secret for success is careful planning and violent execution,
………….you just might be a Colonial Marine.
If you think Fleet is Family, and a Group should be about fun and Friendship,
..........you SHOULD be a Colonial Marine.

From a question on the UK Costuming Site about Colonial Marine Uniforms and where to get materials/components, see hyper-links at the end:
"Military surplus stores are sources for much. Tan, green and black BDU's in the show seem to have the faux suede panels, but also have removed the two front lower blouse pockets, check the UK Costuming reference page. The Black Marine BDU's, especially if you have the "LA" Battle Vest, can get away without adding the faux suede panels. Also, for the Marine battle greens, use the green "US Army Field Coat RN 37572", as was used in on the planet combat scenes in early re-imagined episodes, use screen scenes and Wiki. In ALL blouses and Jackets, suggest you add velcro instead of suede so patches can be added for color and Conventions where people need help recognizing BSG Uniforms. You can then remove patches for accuracy, and remembering that most units, especially elite units, remove all patches for combat. Just a thought, IMHO.http://www.scifihero.net/forums/index.php...http://www.scifihero.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3719 http://mfiap.com/i-7832697-mfi-battle-star-galactica...http://battlestarfanclub.com/profiles/blog/show... plus of course "Wiki".http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Uniforms_(RDM) "
(NCOIC addresses Marine Platoon Sergeants assembled in the MARDET Ready Room.) Effective immediately as ordered by the Raven Security Chief and per standing Security Orders we will increase the Guard Post outside the bridge to Level Two, man the Raised Level post outside Engineering, and initiate double ship roving patrols under Night Watch configuration. Platoons One through Three will rotate responsibility per eight hour shifts until further notice. Fast Reaction Force, Brig and other duties will be rotated through remaining Platoons per SOP. Report current strength and status in thirty mikes. That's all.
I love that idea Gunny!!!!! That's the way it'll go. Then I can try to get in some snake hunting on my own!!!!!LOL
Have a thought: maybe you could crash land, and the crash causes some cracks and openings in your ship and ejection pod. When snakes try to enter, you wire your power to the hull and use short charges to repel them until the SAR hoists you out or the Marines come and get you.
It seems like you have the MARDET set and ready for a Snake Barbecue Icewrom. I haven't had the pleasure to have eaten snake. I've enjoyed eating Venison on many occasions and I've tried Frog Legs and Shark when I visited a friend in Florida. Frog legs are so close to chicken that if I were blindfolded I don't thing I'd know the difference.
Just for laughs, I'm thinking of getting shot down on this mission to deal with the snakes before being picked up by SAR.
This will be an interesting mission to say the least. I encourage our players to try something out of the ordinary. As you know, in battle anything can happen and usually does.
Those of us performing missions need to bump off a few fictitious Pilots and Marines from time to time to give a touch of realism to our missions.
I'll start a training lesson for our pilots o they're ready to deal with the snakes we'll encounter.
All I can say is Go Snake Eater's!!! If the snakes know what's good for them, they'll be high tailing it out of Ground Zero or end up on the table for dinner after the mission is completed.
SO SAY WE ALL!!!!!
MARDET reaction to Snake Island Mission:
Corporal Han "Solo" Harrison: "Snakes......why did it have to be snakes, I prefer warm blooded critters for dinner."
Private Barbara "Barbie-Q" Ramirez: "'Don't even have to light up the flame thrower, a "wet shot" makes snakes double-time away or roll over quietly and die."'
Head Cook Sgt. Wolfgang "Puck" Hindenburg: "NO, NO, NO....don't kill them....if you skin them out fresh and throw them in the pot they move enough to stir the stew until they are cooked."
NCOIC Gunny: '"Back at "School" the instructors kept a box of rattlers in the middle of our sleeping tent as teaching tools and midnight snacks. Now will you Ladies and Gentlemen please PRETEND to take this Mission seriously? Consider that an order."'
MARDET MISSION PREP: "Snake Island" Mission
MARDET NCOIC: "Message to CAG. Sir, MARDET has drawn from Quartermaster one platoon worth of light-weight fire-fighting HAZMAT suits from Ship Stores. Rigged with filters and emergency air supply only, no large capacity air supply. Suits are impervious to snake bites, will allow Team to walk through toxic/flammable material passive defense, and protect in the event of flame use. Have drawn from Sick Bay Med Staff hemo-toxin/neuro-toxin anti-venom injectors and pre-mission vaccine capsules. Standard issue and improvised flame weapons training is underway. Tactical Tomahawks drawn from Armory. Suggest we select and train the designated Raptor drivers for this mission environment. Only problem so far is selecting assault Team from entire MARDET which has volunteered."
FUN FACTS: All known snakes are edible. Snakes can see infra-red light, such as active night-vision and targeting devices. Elite military units throughout history have adopted the nickname "Snake Eaters".
