"There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive, somewhere beyond the heavens."

With the 20th anniversary of the BFC quickly approaching, DragonLady has challenged the leadership to be more visible and active and set an example for current members, new members and fans that may browse our pages that are thinking of joining. Putting on a united effort also shows other fandoms that the BFC is strong in keeping our little niche in the sci-fi community going strong. We cannot pull strong together if some parts don't pull their weight. I've noticed that there are squadrons with little or no activity since I took command of the Air Wing and it is time for that to change. I will begin by referring you to the Squadron Commander's responsibilities link:

I totally understand the outside world sometimes puts constraints on our time and what we're able to do here. However, several squadrons only activity recently comes from posts I have made and this is unacceptable. If you can't find any free time to contribute, appoint an assistant squadron commander to help with the load. If the inactivity continues, I will consult with command on possible changes in leadership of these inactive squadrons. Be advised that I would like to see a few new responsibilities added. One of the requirements of SC's is recruiting your squadron. We want to see SC's welcoming new members on the fan page and actively recruiting to your squadron. Second, I'd like to see each squadron starting to hold regular CAPs. This helps bonding within the Squadron and helps to build friendships. Remember, you accepted the SC position and the responsibility it incurred. Now is the time to step up and help the BFC shine!

Snapshot I'd be happy to if some one would show me to the Officers Club or JOPA. I'm afraid I still get lost on board. In fact I pretty much only know my way from my fraking state room to the wardroom and hanger.

Well said EnsTypewriter. I totrally agree our cockpits are not the place for added weapons, for we ourselves become one in control with our Vipers to defeat the enemy of all Humanity.

Don't forget how Starbuck while out of her Viper chose to carry a sidearm on each hip. I am all for our pilots arming themselves with the longarm of their choosing. Feel free to add whatever weapons your proficient with to your kit.

I also beleive as you do in respect to the Gods and to the use of our ejection controls. Although in my career, I have had the need to use them so I could live to fight another day.

While I was in charge of the squadron, I commanded and urged my pilots to spend additional time on the firing range. So they could in an instant protect those around them as well as themselves. However, it is an honorable thing to never have to use force, unless it is against the Cylons.

I hope to see you at the target range and once in a while at the ships lounge.

Good Hunting Ensign, I feel you may be typing a memo soon!!!

Major Reamer, if I may be so bold, while I appreciate the thought I do belive a second side arm may interfere operations within the cockpit. However I definitely would not resist a select fire pistol and would happily stow a few extended mags into my survival and expeditionary kits. Perhaps a standard carbine conversion platform would be able to fit well into said kits.

I will say I pray to the gods that I never have to touch the black and yellow handles, and only use my side arm(s) on the firing range.

Comment by Maj. Roger "Reamer" Barstow on April 5, 2019 at 8:57pm

Captain Hitman, I recomend that Ens Typewriter carry two sidearms instead of one and find him some extended mags. Also have the armorer convert his sidearms to selective fire so he can be ready to recycle......or should I say type.
