NOTE: **THE WEBSITE WILL GO THROUGH SOME CHANGES FOR THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CLUB ORGANIZATION - JULY 1, 2025**
So what is the feeling around here with regards to the future of BSG?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the shows ending (there has been enough of that already) but did they miss an opportunity by actually finishing the story? Would the producers have been better off to go with an upbeat ending where the rag tag fleet were left still searching for earth thereby giving them an open ended universe that could be expanded upon through time?
As it currently stands we are going to be looking at series reboots with potentially very little expansion upon the basic concept and characters - not that I'm complaining but ...
Universe/Franchise building is the new thing in Hollywood so it was only on the fringes of thought at the time that BSG ended but with word that a new movie/movie series is in the works it seems like it might be the right time to evaluate the possibilities.... or just to talk about it.:)
So say we all.

Hehe, No doubt!
Where do you think they are going to go with the new movie(s)? Straight reboot? Personally I think this show requires more of the long form storytelling on tv these days but that might just be for the reason that you would then get it every week or be able to binge watch it.
So say we all!
I think a reboot has so many possibilities. I think it would be neat to have the fleet encounter or planets or lifeforms that we have not seen before. Whatever is in store I will certainly be watching.
Exactly my point Joker.
I like the idea of a great open ended storyline and it provides opportunities to revisit it later down the road without rebooting it. Continuing on after a generation of the fleet has changed hands into a new generation. Same ships, same journey but new crew.
But I think I would rather see what had a happened to other ships in the line. There could be other battlestars out there still fighting the good fight.
Well, as Colonel Tigh said...err Michael Hogan, we could imagine at least one last story still in the reimagined BSG. Adama in his cabin somewhere on the hill. Here on Earth. Older, of course. Scan to a few odd items of Galactica on a shelf. A door knock. It's Colonel Tigh. They look at each other. Tigh says "We have a problem".
And we take it from there as Hogan said.
There is another way to go as the Star Wars franchise has done in the new film "Rogue One". That is a prequel series before the Cylon war, the possibilities would be endless. The battlestar Galactica had been in military service for a century before Adama took command.
The prequel offers them the most potential I think for a new TV series. More world building etc but I'm thinking they will probably aim for a straight reboot in the rumored new movie series,as the search for earth is the bread and butter of the the storyline.
Its too bad that there hasn't been more made out of the BSG universe on TV though. While good, Caprica strayed further from the BSG ideas than most of the casual audience would have liked.
