<p>15 down is the default, as we're going from a place of oxygen (the maintenance deck) to a place of no oxygen. Any oxygen in the lift would cause a violent decompression. The 15 down will reflect the blast from the oxygen away from the raptor's easily damageable systems. Plus, 15 degrees down is the regular for intra-atmosphere operations, so if you have to dart into a planet for some reason you don't need to worry about changing that if you're under fire. </p>
