Glad to be here! I just recently finished the whole series and I loved every second of it! Not only one of the best sci-fi series or films I've ever seen but one of the best shows or movies of all time, period! I'm from the original Star Wars generation and I put the new BSG series up there with it!
I needed a show to watch when I was on the treadmill.. I had already watched Band of Brothers and the Pacific ( I really love those mini series) 3-4 times.. My oldest brother told me to watch BG.. always put it off.. Well Here I am.. This has to be the Best Show I have ever seen.. I make sure I do not watch it unless I am on a the treadmill or the elliptical......... Im up to 3 workouts a day sometimes.. but always at least 2.
I was only 7 when the original came out.. but I always liked it.
thank you my new friend. Sorry not a fan of the new serious I found myself wanting them to lose, ( THE HUMANS) sorry but that was the worst written show I have ever seen.

Too Late! I have already read a synopsis of each season and know the story arc. However, knowing all that actually fills me with anticipation, instead of spoiling it for me. Watching it is so much better than reading about it. Besides, I forget all that stuff anyway, and as they say in BG, all this has happened before and will happen again. Thanks, God!, talk about the ultimate spoiler! I'll keep in touch!
I forgot to reply to your question about the original BG. I watched a few times but it didn't really make a big impression, unfortunately seeing Lorne Greene always made me think of Bonanza. At that time, the Star Trek and Star Wars fans tended to make fun of the BG fans, I think it was regarded as "campy", and you've got to admit the efforts to cut costs on the original series led to some pretty cheesy stuff. But I remember my older brother told me I should watch it, because the plot reminded him of Zecharia Sitchin's Earth Chronicles, which he was fanatical about. But there is absolutely no comparison between the original and the current BG. Lorne Greene was not Edward James Olmos, or even William Shatner for that matter. Even if the current BG didn't have such a fascinating story line, it would be an excellent series just on the basis of the acting, and the look of the show. You really get immersed in another world, it has the look of a feature film. I do think it has too many extreme close ups, if you create suspence, and drama too often it can lose it's edge. This is the first fan website I have joined, that should tell you something. I rarely allow myself to get worked up over fiction, but this is a series worth networking about, because it is more than a tv show. Although I'm not sure I can articulate just how it is more than a tv show. I never exclaim out loud while watching tv, well, almost never, but at the end of the miniseries, when it was revealed that Boomer was a Cylon, I exclaimed "No! Not Boomer! I don't want her to be a Cylon!" I had developed a crush on Boomer. She is too cute for words, of course that makes her the last person you would suspect of being a Cylon. Sorry to write so much, but Hey! It's my first time on a fan site, so indulge the old man. (I'm 57, I wonder how many old guys are fans of BG.)
I am watching the first season, I'm at the point where Starbuck is about to go back to Caprica to find Apollo's arrow and then bring it to Athena's tomb on Kobol, where the route to Earth will be revealed. I like how the Cylon's behave very much like the way the Greek Gods were described as behaving. The Greek Gods were obsessed with human sexuality and were often putting the moves on human beings, except perhaps Athena. They also bare a resemblance to the Annunaki, in their monotheism, but I think, if I have this right, the Annunaki were punished by God for having sex with the daughters of men.
I love how BG brings in these controversial religious topics under the guise of sci-fi. Very sneaky!
Thank you. I am just beginning to get into Battlestar Galactica. I had heard about it from friends, but I didn't have cable. Finally, when Best Buy sold the first season for less than $20 I jumped on it! It is everything that everyone said it was. I had already been a fan of Edward James Olmos, from Miami Vice. But he is the anchor for BG, he brings a degree of realism that really makes the difference! I love the storyline, it makes you wonder about our myths and religions, it reimagines them, to use your jargon. Only one small complaint, I would think that eventually someone would realize that Dr. Gaidar is constantly talking to someone only he can see. Why would the President want a total nutjob to be her Vice President? and finally, I can't imagine why Starbuck would sleep with him, unless it is for the same reason mountain climbers climb mountains, because he is there! But he is very funny, and I suppose I can suspend my disbelief for his sake.
Thanks for the greeting!

Thanks very much for the welcome! I just went to NY Comic Con yesterday and met several of the cast members. I'm a huge fan of the show but I actually haven't seen the final season yet. I've watched all the episodes besides the final season about 5 times through.
Anything in particular I should take notice of here? Are there forums or anything like that?
