Friends,
The SyFy channel is proposing to make Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome a web series...you have all been waiting patiently...MORE than patiently waiting for BSG's return to screen, but I really don't think in that particular format.
As a matter of fact you HAVE been waiting for it to return as a regularly televised production on TELEVISION.
You know what a webisode is? You know what it's really good for?
Let me answer the second question first...it's good as a compliment to a television show as was the case with Battlestar Galactica and with True Blood.
But as a substitute for Television show?
I think the original suggestion was 9 or 10 episodes clocking in at 10 minutes apiece all greenscreened.
Is THAT what you have been waiting for?
I really truly doubt it!
There is a time when everyone must make a stand...and now is the time when you are needed the most!
If something is worth having, then it is worth fighting for.
Make your voices be heard...and I will tell you a very direct way to make your voices be heard.
Send two lettters every Saturday (one each to the people/addresses listed below)...that's it.
Tell them (in a polite respectful way) that YOU want to see Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome on TELEVISION, not some ten minute blurb on the internet!
Please take a look at these 2 reports of what SyFy is thinking of doing to Battlestar Galactica...here & here as well.
You can write as long a letter as you want...or as short...doesn't matter...you can make copies that you can simply put into an envelope...WHATEVER works best for you!
For the price of two stamps a week, YOU can make a difference.
On each envelope, write: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: BLOOD & CHROME, TELEVISED NOT WEBISODED!
Rest assured that many more people are going to be doing the exact same thing...so you tell me what happens when a thousand people write a thousand letters times two?
Let's go higher...3000? 4000? Every week?
What message to you think that will send to the network?
What do you think it will say about WHAT the fans WANT?
The message will be crystal clear...you are the boss, the networks are there to put on what you want to see, not the other way around!
Success & Keep the Faith!
So say we all!

Comment by Keith a Ranson on Friday TIME TO AMP UP THE PRESSURE PEOPLE!!!
Comment by Paul Nix on Wednesday Again, they are saying no to a series before they even see how the pilot does in the ratings. They have a ready made market, not sure why they won't exploit it.

Comment by Keith a Ranson on January 16, 2012 at 6:00am Yes people! Let's do this! If Mail Could save Star Trek: TOS, it can get us more BSG on TV.
Comment by Alleyson Phoenix on November 26, 2011 at 2:38pm SYFY is not planning to do this as a web series. There have been no conversations of this and plans are going through as a regular TV series.
Comment by Teresa Jusino on November 20, 2011 at 5:50pm Actually, I think that you're underestimating the possibilities of a Blood and Chrome web series. Television is moving to the web, and independent web series are increasingly monetizing. SyFy is smart to take something like the BSG franchise and create a web series with an already existing fanbase to start creating content that is web-specific.
We always complain that network TV doesn't "get" how people watch shows, that they pay too much attention to advertisers and an outdated ratings system and use that criteria to cancel shows. Here, SyFy is creating a show for the web that would bring us the franchise we love in a manner that is more direct. It will allow them to figure out a new business model and start changing how they operate. And more importantly, it will allow the franchise to survive, because it will cost less and reach more people, whereas if it were broadcast on the network, it might not garner the viewers it needs and go the way of Caprica.
I love BSG - I wouldn't be here if I didn't! - and I think that having Blood and Chrome on the web is the next logical step in the progression of the franchise. All TV shows are going to be on the web in 10-15 years, once networks figure out how to make the advertising there profitable. I, for one, am happy to see this beloved franchise be a part of what makes that happen!
Comment by James S Reily on November 10, 2011 at 7:05am Does anyone know when or if BSG-Blood&Chrome will air as a TV or webisode? I have emailed SYFY channel several times, but heard nothing back.I hope it makes it to tv,but at this point I will take any new BSG I can watch at all!! So say we all. greystang54

Comment by Herb on October 3, 2011 at 10:11pm This is my twitter account that I created several months ago for BSG (BigGalacticaFan). In addition to your letters, please follow on twitter and tweet your support like crazy here and on your own twitter accounts. I only have 150 followers give or take, but the greater mass of them are SciFi related, and including many that are BSG related, production, reporters, media etc.

Comment by Herb on October 3, 2011 at 9:52pm Wow! Maybe everyone should use red envelopes. can you imagine if they got 2000 or 3000 red envelopes a week. lol Oh well. Do these individuals have other public access networking sites that people can go to and blog and leave messages on message boards?
Also what about the cast of these shows that the fans made to be so successful. We should have their support too. After all, it's the fans and viewers that kept their series on air for what 5 - 6 years? Why can't they take a moment and express support for the fan base in return for how we supported the show?
